Overclocking
This isn't really a technical issue for Freelancer, but i have a question about overclocking and the like.
O.k., I have this computer, and I'm playin some games, and all of a sudden, no picture or sound....nothing. Never ever happened with Freelancer, only with a few games, such as SOF 2, RTCW, and AOM (can't be bothered to write them out) A couple of times the computer actually fully restarted in the middle of the intense gameplay (ok, not that intense but whatever). Incredibly frustrating, especially when you're playing with 5 other peoples and your team is about to win/lose or whatever. (BTW, this is not a one-time thing, happened 3-4 times today alone.)
1.67 ghz AMD Athlon XP,
64 meg ATI Radeon 7500--yes, drivers up-to-date and DirectX too
256+256 RAM
Eh, ok, I heard somewhere that AMD Athlons run very hot, and may be contributing to the random crashes. I don't think that it's the video card, because I replaced the stock, built-in s3 card before the ATI, ('cause it sucked and stuff) and it still happens as it did before. The graphics are much better, but it doesn't help when your 'puter dies. So, someone told me to go into the system bios and turn down the AGP a notch (I have no idea what that means, but I'll figure it out somehow) and add another fan or 4
The thing is, I never tweaked any part in the 'puter, except for adding a new video card and more memory. Would reformatting the 'puter be a way to fix this, or is it something that can't be fixed. I haven't tried turning down the AGP yet, so I'm not sure if that will fix it. If anyone has any suggestions or tips that I may try to make my 'puter work finally, it is very appreciated.
