How do you think Federation ships get all those holo channels? It's their satellite dish. Federation captain place a premium on comfort.

Of course they do, the Enterprise E even had the Captain own yacht on it!

If it wasn't for the inky blackness of the night you wouldn't appreciate the brilliance of the stars...

It kinda creates a deflector screen that deflects space dust and alla that jazz from hitting the hul during warp.

The dish on the original Enterprise WAS going to be the commucation dish.....but it became the Main Deflector.

Don't ask me how Communications are acheived, cuz I dunno.
