Why do you Pick on Bill Gates?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Why do you Pick on Bill Gates?

Look at subject.

1. He gives a lot of his money away to education an other things in the country.
He gave around 90 million to my school district 3 years ago. (living in Washington State helps!)

2. Big help to the local economy, again living in Washington helps.

3. He worked semi-hard for his money. He deserves to spoil his family a bit.

So what are your reasons?

Post Sun Jul 06, 2003 6:18 pm

He lives in the same state as me. Only 15 minutes away. I took my boat out onto lake Washington and got to see his house close up.

Post Sun Jul 06, 2003 6:58 pm

WOW if I knew he lived a few ninnuts away form me I'd move.

bungie, digital anvil, rareware. guess what they all have in common.

theres one thing being a good businessman, but what if you DONT want that businesses product, what if your happy as larry with the way things are.

i DONT pay for microsoft products. i make no bones about the fact that about 90% of my applicational software is warez, the OS i'm using is..why? becasue a student on my salery (that is working a bar) CANNOT afford the extortionate prices demanded by a software firm that absorbs all the other firms so remains on the top, and adding to the fact that you have to PAY for a subscription to even use their HELP FILES then it kinda cheeses me off. I'm not anti gates as such, he is just a figurehead now, its the idea that his business does this to me and many more like me, yet he could stop it simply enough.

and woop de woop your school area got 90mil, maybe if i ever saw a penny of investment into my area i could push my BOAT OUT ON SOME SODDING LAKE AND GO SEE HIS HOUSE TOO BUT UNTIL I BECOME SOME LARDY DAR MILLIONARE I MIGHT NOT BE ABLE TO JOIN YOU OUT THERE IN YOUR SOCIAL BAND.

Rather than making four threads at the same time, make one big one.

he "only" made 3.the other one id older

He gave out 24 billions in total for various charities. Try to top that! Unlike Xeno, Gates has done squat to me personally nor do I live anywhere around his vicinity. I don't get why people don't like him. He hasn't done anything criminal. He's a true capitalist and a master opportunist, yes, and people pick on him because he's much more competent than other capitalists and opportunists.
About "strangling" competition? puhlease. His so-called "underdog" competitors would do the same if given the same chance. It's called capitalism.

I like him because he's a geek, and I'm running XP right now, and I don't see any reason to switch to Apple yet (which I'm crazy about but won't do coz I like games). Even if you're warezing his products, you still owe him your thanks. Just remember, without his OS and Internet Explorer, you'll be doing your mocking via telephone and fax. Oh, and no FL at all

*Jim Carey impersonation - again* Reheheheheheally?
He's a man people like to hate. maybe it's his face?
Nah, it's his money... We can't steal it. And it's soooo frustrating...

Careful what you wish... You might just get it.

Amen Fear Factor, Gates is a helluva businessman. I can't say i'd hang out with the guy but you have got to respect his brain for business.

However I'm getting fairly sick of the resounding whine that comes from pimply faced freaks with pocket protectors everytime MS (or to be cool M$) gets mentioned. Im pretty sure half of them don't even know why they hate microsoft, that is until an uber geek steps in and starts to spout crap of how the only true commodity is the free exchange of ideas, how they shouldn't have to pay for anything and why microsoft is an evil monopoly choking the industry of blah blah blah. To be honest with you all, i couldn't give a frogs fat ass how microsoft conduct thier business, their in it to make money which is something they have proven to be very good at, so good for them.

But here's one tip from me to you on how to give microsoft a scare, learn to be a capable user of Linux. If there is one thing that makes MS employees cower in fear it's GNU licensing, it'll give them more of a fright than all the ethical business diarrhoea that you can spew onto a forum in a lifetime.
