Two Towers Extended Version
Perhaps you guys already knew this, but here´s some info on the upcoming Extended DVD Version of The Two Towers:
RELEASE: November 18th, 2003
Platinum Edition Featuring Special Extended Cut
Discs One & Two: The Two Towers Extended Version (approximately 222 minutes)
Anamorphic (16x9 enhanced) 2.35:1 widescreen transfer
43 minutes (
) of additional scenes featuring new music by composer Howard Shore
Additional Scenes Include:
CONFIRMED:
More material with Treebeard, including a scene where Treebeard's rumbling voice makes the hobbits sleepy, and the Wellinghall scene where Merry and Pippin drink the Entdraught.
The Huorns at Helm's Deep.
More shots with Gollum have been completed, so presumably there will be more character development.
Faramir finds the boat with his brother Boromir's body, triggering a lengthy flashback that includes scenes with Denethor, and a sequence where the two brothers share a drink together.
Eomer discovers Theodred's body and brings him home.
Eowyn sings a dirge at Theodred's funeral.
Aragorn earns Eowyn's respect by taming an unruly horse, whispering Elvish into its ear.
Eowyn serves stew to Aragorn.
SPECULATION:
A scene with Gandalf and Aragorn talking about the union between the Two Towers, which was seen at the end of the "Two Towers" video game but not in the film, is a likely candidate for the extended cut.
Eowyn defending the women and children in the Glittering Caves.
Saruman discussing how Gandalf has discovered the lost king of Gondor.
More exploration of Aragorn and Arwen's relationship.
Possible reforging of Narsil. A shot has been seen of Arwen approaching the shards in Rivendell, but was not included in theatrical version.
Elrond in Lothlorien. Haldir tells Theoden he 'brings word from Elrond' at Helm's Deep. The ten-minute TTT preview contains a shot from a possible scene of a face-to-face discussion taking place in Galadriel's realm.
Discs Three & Four: The Appendices
No official word yet, but expect features on the creation of Gollum and Treebeard, and the MASSIVE program which created soldiers at Helm's Deep.
