Two Towers Extended Version

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Two Towers Extended Version

Perhaps you guys already knew this, but here´s some info on the upcoming Extended DVD Version of The Two Towers:

RELEASE: November 18th, 2003
Platinum Edition Featuring Special Extended Cut

Discs One & Two: The Two Towers Extended Version (approximately 222 minutes)

Anamorphic (16x9 enhanced) 2.35:1 widescreen transfer
43 minutes () of additional scenes featuring new music by composer Howard Shore

Additional Scenes Include:

CONFIRMED:

More material with Treebeard, including a scene where Treebeard's rumbling voice makes the hobbits sleepy, and the Wellinghall scene where Merry and Pippin drink the Entdraught.

The Huorns at Helm's Deep.

More shots with Gollum have been completed, so presumably there will be more character development.

Faramir finds the boat with his brother Boromir's body, triggering a lengthy flashback that includes scenes with Denethor, and a sequence where the two brothers share a drink together.

Eomer discovers Theodred's body and brings him home.

Eowyn sings a dirge at Theodred's funeral.

Aragorn earns Eowyn's respect by taming an unruly horse, whispering Elvish into its ear.

Eowyn serves stew to Aragorn.

SPECULATION:

A scene with Gandalf and Aragorn talking about the union between the Two Towers, which was seen at the end of the "Two Towers" video game but not in the film, is a likely candidate for the extended cut.

Eowyn defending the women and children in the Glittering Caves.

Saruman discussing how Gandalf has discovered the lost king of Gondor.

More exploration of Aragorn and Arwen's relationship.

Possible reforging of Narsil. A shot has been seen of Arwen approaching the shards in Rivendell, but was not included in theatrical version.

Elrond in Lothlorien. Haldir tells Theoden he 'brings word from Elrond' at Helm's Deep. The ten-minute TTT preview contains a shot from a possible scene of a face-to-face discussion taking place in Galadriel's realm.

Discs Three & Four: The Appendices

No official word yet, but expect features on the creation of Gollum and Treebeard, and the MASSIVE program which created soldiers at Helm's Deep.

Here´s a pic of the Extended Version DVD:

43 minutes?
Cool, the extended version of the Fellowship only had about a half hour of extra footage. The more the better, as far as I'm concerned.

Just think, this useless post is adding to my rank...

Ok guys, you know that I'm more of a LotR geek then you'll ever be. Disregarding that I STILL think that TTT was crap. Peter Jackson might be a highly regarded splatterfilm dierctor but I still can't see a reason for over 50 minutes of hack-and-slay masturbat!onin Helms Deep. Neither does it justify the use of elves at the said location or spell out th evil Faramirs venture into Osgiliath.

I don't like the movies, not that it's going to stop me attending the Return of the King in my new fancy black cloak.

Yep. After 30 minutes, the battle gets really boring. I liked the armored elves, but no, they shouldn't have been there.

@Eraser: so that's what kept you silen the past few days...
I think that they cannot sink lower than adding 30-45 minutes of useless, pointless film to an already severely butchered Tolkien's masterpiece...

Careful what you wish... You might just get it.

Now, where did you see a movie thaty would not "butcher" the original book. Maybe "The Stand" sould be close to an exception.

I know what you mean zlo. Have you ever read John Grisham´s book ´The Rainmaker´ and after reading it saw Francis Ford Coppola´s The Rainmaker (with Matt Damon, Jon Voigt etc.) ? If you have read the book, then the movie is just crap.

The Lord of the Ring however is actually quite good. Sure it´s not exactly like the book, but that would just be impossible (length wise and all). The movies are real eye candy (as it was in my imagination when reading the books) and Peter Jackson did all that was possible. I mean, A Line Cinema wanted to do a 1,5 hour film of each book, but Jackson said no. He told them he wanted to adapt as much as possible to the big screen and thus creating a 3(+) hour movie of each book and even an almost 4 hour movie of each book with the Extended Versions. We have to give the man credit for that alone.

Exactly. espite discrepancies (which, I guess are ineviable in making a film), the movie was real good. BW, I heard rumors that the third part is already complete, but they'll wait til X-mas or sth before they show it on screen. Dunno how much truth is in that.
Pity I neither read the book nor saw the film. I guess I'll try to find the book - not sure about the movie.

That exactly what I mean. Yes, the movie does help those lacking imagination, but so do the sketches/drawings. I wouldn't mind watching a 7 hours long movie, if it's done properly... Would you?
Oh, and WB, zlo. Where have you been? We (I) missed you...

Geez, Chetnik *sheds a manly tear of joy*, I'm so glad someone still remembers me
In fact, I'v only been away for a couple of days, since I had to finish my coursework and pass two exams (on the same day - 10 a.m. and 12 a.m.). In addition to that, my wife left for Denmark and won't be back till mid-September, and I want sex as hell, so, naturally, I was depressed and drinking. Guess you can understand me. Anyway, I'm getting OT in OT, so I'd better stop now. Just needed to shake the load off my shoulders.
