This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Alien: Ressurection for PS1 was pretty scary. Resident Evil 1 was aslo kinda scary at the time I played it (5 years ago)... Now they're more like unnerving...
About scary movies... I don't like a movie that doesn't have a realistic/logical sense to it, and I'm not even remotely scared by a movie full of wierd looking goo piles...
I watched Event Horizon, but I was more interested in that black hole then the demons, or bursting eyes/arteries.
Freddy Kruger(sp?) was just plain disturbing...

Beh. Somehow, watching a translated movie takes out any of the horror. I watched the Alien series in Bulgaria (translated) and didn't even flinch. On the flight to the U.S. (after I had learned English) they showed Alien: Ressurection without any translation, and it left me utterly horrified. I don't know what it was. Somehow, it hadn't scared me at all with the translation...and scared me halfway to Hell in it's original...

Aliens, the second movie in the series, is the best IMHO.

The Blair Witch Project was confusing but had some moments which creeped me out, but you're right...most modern horror films just suck. Psychological horror is a far better bet these days.

Alien II (Aliens) was definitely the best of the quartet - not only did it have kick-ass marines, it was damn freaky too. Has anyone else read the original screen-play? They had some great ideas in there that should have been used

Try playing the original Aliens vs. Predator - as a marine - at 11:00pm alone in a dark room with a thunderstorm outside...that was one scary game! Scared the bejeebers out of me when the motion tracker went off, with that little blip just getting closer and closer, and the alarm getting higher and higher..."Bleep...bleep..bleep.bleep.bleepbleepbleepbleep" eventually I'd just fire blindly and hope to God that there was something there!

Try watching a few of the old classics like The Thing and Fiend Without a Face - they're usually pretty scary on the psychological front...after all, it's not what we see on the screen that terrifies us, it's what we imagine lurking in the unseen darkness...mwahahahahahaha!

This "28 Days later' movie seems like it may be pretty good.

I saw Event Horizon two times and it´s great, but I wouldn´t say scary though. I´m not easily startled and certainly not by a movie (not now at least). Freddy Kruger used to scare the bejesus out of me when I was about 11 or 12, but nowadays I can´t even imagine it ever scared me. Movies that still scare me the most are the ´real´ ones like Cannonball Holocaust, Mondo Cane, Faces of Death etc., but would this qualify for Horror ? (since these are like real documentaries)

The best horror games I have played were the Resident Evil Series and the Silent Hill Series. I remember when I first played Silent Hill and I was home alone, in a dark room, around midnight and I started playing.....I remember moving my character through heavy fog, hearing sounds all around me and listening to disturbing music. Then my character reached a dark alley which kept getting darker and darker, untill I had to use my flashlight to see anything....I kept going and going and the music became more disturbing and then I came across a hospital bed covered in blood and surrounded by flies.....I kept going and saw more blood spread on the walls....and then I reached a corps, covered in blood, hanging with his head on a hook from a fence....and then.....something from behind creeped up on me from the darkness.....

Anyway, the creators of Silent Hill did a lot of innovative stuff to make it very scary, like the heavy fog, parts were totally dark and you only had a small flashlight or lighter to see, changing camera angles and motion (very creative sometimes) etc.

But the most disturbing thing in Silent Hill is the radio that you're carrying, and the sounds it emmits when someone approaches you... And the fact that at some part (the school) kids with very sharp knives are after you -- It's not like they're chasing you, but taking it slow, calmly and steadily progressing towards you... Just to let you know that they don't need to hurry, because they'll get you anyway. (I played Silent Hill when I was 11)

Heh he, I forgot about the radio That was indeed disturbing and yes, those things (dead kids or whatever they were) were indeed in no hurry to chase you with their knives, slowly enlosing you and then they start slicing and dicing you ! (they will make mincemeat of you )

Also cool about Silent Hill were the different endings (about 5 if I´m correct), depending on the choices you made throughout the game.

Well, heh, that silent hill thing sounds awesome, if i had a rifle, it would be the near-death schizophrenia, you know, "die you undead motha f***ers!" *fires a entire rifle full into the group* funny though, imagine after doing that your sitting there gasping for air and all you see is like a single guy fall down

Anyway, I play The Thing and its really scary in the beginning until you kill the first 10-20 creatures, in the beginning your just walking around in the quiet ruins with blood everywhere and mutilated bodies everywhere, but suddenly it loses the factor after you actually start killing, it also ruins the fear factor a bit when, ya know how they have fear, nervousness, and party member infection? well its kinda just a mock, like for example, its more funny than scary when you walk into a room, walk over a body, and your engineer looks at it "what the hell happened to him?" then he calmly walks over and blasts chunks all over the body, then walks around all nervous, fear stricken, its funny every time! sheer comedy
