Horror Movies

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Horror Movies

anyone watch horror movies anymore? I dont anymore, I USED to like em, now, If I want a really good scare I just go watch marylin manson music videos (i dont like his songs either, cept one, Tainted Love) anyway, as of today I am no longer interested in Horror. I have tried everything to spark interest again, I watched Darkness Falls, The Ring, Mothman Prophecies (more like psychological thriller) Resident Evil (this was horror? I didnt know) and so many others, Ghost Ship, Fear-Dot-Com (**THE** MOST misleading movie i have ever watched) and nothing seems to REALLY scare me anymore. I watch the old movies, like Nightmare On Elm Street or whatever, and those seem so old and corny nowadays its FAR below scare factor. After playing games so long, anyone ever feel they have pretty much seen it and slain it all? I dont know what to say, so ill end this post on a question:

When the last time anything horror actually SCARED you?

Event Horizon. I resorted to tofu, vegetables, rice, fruit, cheese, bread and potato for a week afterwards. No meat for seven full days.

the x-files were scary when i was like 10..

Science is knowledge.
Knowledge is power.
Time is money.
power = work/time
therefore, knowledge= work/money
therefore, money = work/knowledge
therefore, money is inversely proportional to knowledge.

therefore,

The more knowledge you have, the less money you have.

Prepare for the worst, for you have read the worst.

The ONLY good movie in this style was "Omen" it's old but still rules. Others are just about creepy creatures. The real evil (or horror) is inside us...

I don't have a drinking problem. I drink. I get drunk. I fall down. No problem.

If you coun't the Scream Triogy as Horror, then I do still watch Horror Movies

"A TopGun through and through"

Yep, the Japanese version of The Ring is the scariest.

All modern horror movies are nothing but quick flashes of goo just to try to catch you off guard which I think is a very lame and overused tactic. Nothing is scary anymore. The closest thing to truly scaring me was The Ring. That was a good movie...

Or....these movies arnt as scary anymore simply cuz we're all just older now and have experienced a lot more in life, desensitizing us. When I was younger, I watched this Freddy Kruger marathon and I was scared to death!! Nowadays when I watch the same movies again....its almost like a comedy.

Anyone seen the live action TV show, Tales of the Crypt? THAT was some weird awesome ****.

i was never a fan of horror movies, just didnt see the point. i like psychological horror films though although they scare the bejesus outa me cause YOU make the horror in your head which, if youre messed up in the head, can be pretty damn fightening.

event horizon was good, but then i think the ghost ship concept is such a great one.
i love blair witch for the last 3 seconds of it but i've yet to watch it again. (the second one was pretty poo).
i'm more into scary games, your more connected to the storyline and you dont get tipped off about whats coming. gotta love system shock 2

Last horror to scare me was Event Horizon. I think it has to do with the setting to be scary.
I watched that movie in the cinema at 1:00am.
There were 10 of in there, spooky in itself. Anyway the part where the doctor has just been warned and turns around to get slammed followed by skinned was where the chap behind me decided to put his feet up and hit me hard on the shoulder, there was a delighted scream of agony from me and much apologising from him.

I find horror movies about mass murders etc. boring. Scare the hell out my other half though

I do agree, most new horror movies rely on sneaking up on you with a f***ed up image so it gets stuck in your head and then your unwillingly scared. Psychological thrillers are also pretty cool but I havent heard of many good ones lately. But their has been some games that did manage to scare me every now and then, I remember the first time, I think 1-2 years ago I was latenight at a friends house, and I played Resident Evil Survivor (albeit being quite crappy) I remember walking down that lonely dark street and suddenly the phone rings, I pickup, nobody answers then they send assassins my way, It seemed to fit the moment so nicely that it seems to give me a feeling like "ok, it sounds and looks pretty scary, but it isnt doing the trick just yet" besides that, the zombie textures were so horrible it COULDNT be scary. Anyone here ever watch a movie called Fire In The Sky? I heard it was pretty good.

I saw The Ring Amercian version first, and after that the japanese version.
I think the Amercian was scarier, but maybe thats a bit because I saw that one first.

Original Quake scared me. Playing at 2:00AM with all the lights out at a friend's house, and then a fiend jumps out of nowhere... I screamed and fell over backwards. Now that I look back on it, its quite funny, actually.
