There was a World-wide survey asking for peoples' opinions on World-wide food shortages problem...
The reactions:

In West Europe -- " What is a 'shortage' ? "
In East Europe -- " *My* 'independant/personal' opinion ? "
In Africa -- " 'Food' ? "

Probably derived from the (survey-obtained) fact that many Americans do not know all of the States, let alone where (and what) is Serbia, for example, or where exactly is Iraq...

Why bother saying "Don't get offended"? As anyone who has seen Pulp Fiction knows, my natural response could well be to get offeded. Then, through no fault of my own, I would be unable to grant that request.

Note: surveys and polls are 98% BS, and "many" is a rather subjective word. "Many" Americans, myself included, can point out Serbia, Iraq, etc. on a map. It doesn't come up much, though... "many" of us don't really give a squat what happens in Serbia, but don't get offended.
