Who speaks Klingon ?

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Who speaks Klingon ?

This is an actual news article:

US mental group seeks Klingon interpreter

A mental health organisation in the US state of Oregon needs an interpreter who can speak Klingon. The language created for Star Trek is one of about 55 needed by the office that treats mental health patients in metropolitan Multnomah County. Multnomah County research has found many people consider Klingon to be a complete language. Although created for works of fiction, Klingon was designed to have a consistent grammar, syntax and vocabulary.
"There are some cases where we've had mental health patients where this was all they would speak," said county official, Franna Hathaway. The officials say they're obligated to respond with a Klingon-English interpreter, putting the language on a par with less common tongues like Dari and Tongan.

So, does anyone of you speak Klingon ?

Those guys must be nuts! (wait, they indeed are)
I've heard of some guys who were learning Elvish. What's next?

I don't have a drinking problem. I drink. I get drunk. I fall down. No problem.

Here's some links for anyone wanting to learn Quenya for s**ts and giggles.

http://www.uib.no/People/hnohf/
http://www.stormpages.com/axana/dictionaries.html
http://www.uib.no/People/hnohf/wordlists.htm

I found those and several others by googling the topic, "learn Elven langauge."
Anyone wanting to learn Klingon could probably find similar results as I've seen the links for it. Wonder if they have sites to learn Kilrathi while we're on the topic.

'cotton candy' spelled backwards is 'ydnac nottoc' which in Klingon means "you suck beyond suck!" Actually it loses something in the translation. Don't say this to any Klingon unless you've got him covered with your phaser.

Only in the Peoples Republic of Oregon would they ask a mental health professional to learn to speak Klingon to crazy people. Why don't they just get people who speak Spanish and see if they can trick the nuts into thinking it's Klingon?

Let's get those missiles ready to destroy the universe!!

I would have thought that they wouldn't want the patients to get too attached to something like Star Trek. They would have a new breed of Crazy Trekkers

Maybe they're searching for cast members for the next Trek film. The crew of the Enterprise finds a band of Klingons that went mad from working b.s. jobs for 20-years... Wait - that's my life.

I heard Klingon was a mixture of Welsh and Russian, there was some news article a few years back of some stupid girl taking a degree in Klingon!!

Post Tue May 13, 2003 6:29 pm

No she didn't take a degree in Klingon, if it's the person I'm thinking about, but she did her dissertation on whether or not Klingon was a real Lang.

She was a student at my University, and it was back in 1996 that she did this. She was also the founder of my University's Sci-Fi Society, which I am a member of
