Lesson learned.

This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

Lesson learned.

The area I live in, is fairly low crime, so I never lock my doors.

I was leaving for work this morning, and my car had trouble starting.

I got out...and popped my hood.

Lo and behold....I was missing something.

After about 30 minutes of research, I figured out my Throttle Body was missing.

Someone had taken it.

Having to wait until tomorrow before I can get the part.

When I finally made it to work (2 hours late) on of my supervisors told me that the Throttle Body for my 95 Neon. is a hot commodity right now for modding.

So...I just learned a $150 lesson. ALWAYS LOCK YOUR CAR DOORS.

So if you have a 95 neon, or know anyone with one....Have them protect thier car by locking it.

wait a minute...you DONT lock your car?
i park my car in my locked garage behind my locked gates and i still lock the doors and put on the imobiliser, steering lock and take the radio front out, and i live in a small town in a quiet crime free neighborhood.

In the entire time I have owned a car, I have never locked my car...because nothing has ever been worth stealing.

Most of the cars I have owned, have barely been driveable. This Neon I have is the best car I own....I know, I know...It's a Neon....But prior to that I had a beat up old 88 Chevy Nova, then a 83 Ford Mustang....that looked and drove like a broken brick.

Next was a Ford Taurus...that was not much better.

This Neon is the one that is in the best shape...

I have decided that from now on, I will lock it up...THat will not deter a determined thief...but will make it harder.

Heheh

Wait...you had a Nova and a Mustang....weren't those like....muscle cars?

Post Thu Apr 10, 2003 4:49 am

EB...

Note I said an 88 nova and an 83 Mustang....

The Nova was actually a Toyota Corolla with Chevy Emblems.

The Mustang was a piece of crap off the line....

It was a GLX model....Had the inline 6 cyl. Lots of torque...but NO power.

It looked and ran like crap.

The 88 Nova just WAS crap.

Hehehehe...

Our van got broken into as well. We were never afraid of it getting broken into cuz nothing valuable was in it. But when we went to Chinatown, it was broken into and our old cell phone was stolen (u know, the ones which are the size of your fist) and my dad's prescription sunglasses....lol, wtf can you do with prescription sunglasses?

No, I do not recommend that you should ever resist an armed robber.

Edit: Damn, I forgot it's in the members only forum.
I'll just paste it here:

Stupid Car jacker Reply

Here is one for ya... I saw the video and it is GREAT!!!!

Store Loss Prevention personnel were watching a suspicious individual in their parking lot when a car approached looking for a spot close to the door. Said suspicious person draws pistol and shoves it through the window into drivers face. Driver grabs arm and pulls arm into car while rolling up window, then proceeds to accelerate. Would be car jacker unable to compete with fast car. Car Jackee drives around parking lot several times w/ Car Jacker holding on for dear life... driver was doing donuts.

When police arrived they handcuffed car jacker (who had a dislocated shoulder) When car jacker was down driver got out of car. All 5'2" of her and PUNTED, w/ full wind up, car jacker in the head. From what the LP mgr said she was MAYBE 18 and PEEVED. The Police had to physically restrain her as she was informing everyone that she intended to casrate him.

Seeing that video turned my whole day around... I can't stop grinning whever I think about.

We are kings or pawns; kings and fools.

Wiz.

It's the part on the car that actually controls accelleration on a vehicle.

Without it, the car is undriveable.

Update.

I gritted my teeth and called Dodge...becuase the $150 part was the wrong part.

No one actually carries the part I needed.

Dodge wanted $270 for the unit itself, then another $100 for something else, then $50 for the 3rd part.....

Can we say....FORGET THAT.

So I swallowed my pride and went to a junkyard...Cost me $40...for the entire thing.

Happy Day!

Got home, installed it...Went to put the accelerator cable and 2 other cables on...and noticed they DID cut the cables...AND broke a vacuum line, and I have the wrong bolts to mount the accelerator bracket. Too small.

Crap.

Called around again. No one carries them.

Called Dodge again. $75, $45, and $35 each....Forget that.

Asked if they are standard galvanized steel wire rope...They are.

BINGO....Going to hardware store to pick up that rope, and reuse the tubing on there now...Still in good shape.

Mind you...This little annoyance started 3 days ago....I still don't have a car to drive....But I am getting closer.

Why'd they cut the cables? They are easy enough to get slack on, to just pop them off....There was no cause to cut the cables...Unless they wanted to add insult to injury....

BTW, what can you do with a throttle body ? i mean, isn't it in like an inaccisble (sp?) place? like somewhere in the engine? well, i dun know much about cars.. sry... but then again, maybe the thief had his stolen as well... so he went to steal yours, and you should to, just don't get caught. low crime residence? - LOL... don't ask what was funny.
