Wing Commander Movie: Was it REALLY THAT BAD?
This is where you can discuss your homework, family, just about anything, make strange sounds and otherwise discuss things which are really not related to the Lancer-series. Yes that means you can discuss other games.

I wonder why he didn't stay with Origin when EA bought 'em out. Maybe he doesn't like big biz. That would explain why he left Origin for DA when EA bought 'em out and then left DA when MS bought them.

Maybe if we all gather together and put together an independed video game production company and perhaps Chris Roberts would resurface in the gaming industry. I'm sure that among all of us, there should be at least one of us who could get EA and Origin to release the rights to WC allowing us to continue the epic that is the greatest video game franchise of ALL TIME! That would be cool.

Allow me to answer the question as to why Origin is no longer making any WC games and a possible candidate for why Roberts left Origin and will not return. The reason is that EA is having Origin focus all of it's attention on the Ultima Online brand of MMORPGs. EA has decided that since Origin released UO that the future of Origin lay in it's UO franchise, and thus needed to focus their attention on expanding and maintaining the level of quality said franchise deserves. Once they had a stable user base they will continually get an income from the monthly fee that their users pay to play UO. Because of this, Origin has not made a single new game outside of their Ultima Online franchise. Similarly, Janes-EA has not made any new flight sims since their release of F/A-18. This is a true shame, because the industry lost 2 game companies that made truly high quality games (Longbow series, Wing Commander/Privateer series, and the true Ultima series to name a few). It's just how the industry works. A fast growing company is making quality products and the larger company that has been around for several years decides it want's part of the action. So, the larger company buys the smaller and changes the smaller company's focus on something the larger company thinks is more important. That's just how it is...it's sad, but unfortunately, very true.
Hopefully when I make my first 23 million dollars I'll buy a small upstart gaming company, track down Chris Roberts and beg him to work for me, giving him all the creative liberties he wants, the only stipulation being that he hear my ideas for the games and seriously takes them into consideration while making them.
Yeah, I know it won't happen, but we can all have a dream, right?
Umm...right, guys?
Umm...guys?

I think it was fun to se how it all started fore Blair and Maniac.
But that must be because I have only played WC4 (a very nice game most play it later together with the Tie Fighter game)
So I think it was just like it should be, nothing more and nothing less.
