How to change Texture Changing range

Hey Im new here and I would like to know how to change texture Changing distances.....well I mean when you are very far textures are ugly if you are Very..Very Close they are Normal..........I would want to make fighters have best Textures in 200m and Battleships and stations 700m
Maybe someone can help me
I tryed LOD ranges at Shiparch.ini......but is it the right place?

So if its the right place...then what do the numbers show?......if I put 0, 5000
Will it mean the only textures Changing range is 5000m? I would just like to know the Numbers ; ) for them
And Do you know why Custom ship disappears in short range....if it gets about 20m-35m far its invisible and only weapons are visible on the ship

Thank You anyway

This should be in the modellers and textures forum - where modellers and texturers will actually read it

I will move it soon - giving you a chance to see its going to be moved is all

its not only about the texture, but primarily about the model.
the farther a ship is away (those are the numbers btw), the less polygons the models have. This saves performance because you wouldnt see the difference at that large ranges.

0, 200, 500, 1000 for the lodranges mean:
from 0 to 200 distance, the 1st model will be used (the full detailed one)
from 200 to 500 it is replaced by a less performance-intense version
and so on, you get the idea.

at ranges over 1000 this ship would be invisible. (all all fightersized sihps in standard FL are)

hope this clarified a few things - u can view the low-poly version of the omdels if u know how to use the cmp importer into milkshape.
