OK, final notes (I hope):

- Destroyer is not listed in the ship descriptions

- In the price list, it's not stated that Fighter Shipyards generate credits.

- The info on Exploration Parties is still combining both old and new rules and it's contradicting itself.

- Q&A, question 7 seems very confusing.

(calculator)

- In the calculator, Smugglers get +5C foundation bonus. This is not listed in the rules.

- The Starting Fleet listing in the calculator is completely wrong.

- The cell calculating Total Money This Turn is missing Medium Faction's Foundatione (e.g. +C8), Corporation Wealth bonus (+C14), Smuggler bonus (if it should be there, +C16) and uses number of in-game Battleships (C24) instead of Total Money Earned (C25)

- Tech Modifiers are not included in the calculator.

- Small Transport is called Freighter in the calculator.

- All Transports get -1C cost for Corporations in the calculator.

- Houses get -5M for capships price according to the calc, but in the rules it's -10M.

- Salvagers don't get the -1M cost for all ships bonus in the claculator.

- Effect of the Improved Navigation research is not included in the calculator.

- Cost/resource differencies between the calculator and rules:
Tech Research - 30C in the calculator, 25C in the rules
Exploration Party - 30C in calculator, 50C/5M/2G in the rules
Omega-7 - 0O in the calc, 3O in the rules
Galileo - 0M/5O in the calc, 5M/0O in the rules

- Total Resource Cost for Food is SUM(H8:H65). It should be SUM(H65:H84).

I hope that's it all.

We're returning to the five commodity system? Aw snap, time to remenince on CYOF 2.

*remembers trying to figure his massive amount of income with Samura.*

And as for everyone starting over, I totally agree. Back in the old days, if you were a small faction, you had to ally with the houses or be crushed.

But just think, this time around, the pirates will finally be pirates.

VD I'm looking forward to future games, Samura won't rogue from Kusari this time. hehehe

Thanks emporer. I'll try to work on those changes as soon as possible.

I'm not finished yet, but most of the issues you mentioned have been fixed. I made a change to the system used to determine starting fleets as well, However I'm not going to actually make the changes to the calculator until everyone has a chance to comment on the change. What I essentially did was change the determination of how many ships you get to the size of your faction rather than type. The reason for this is that the actuall size of a faction can vary greatly within a class, and it really isn't fair for a corporation with 1 base to get the same fleet as a mega corporation like samura. Those factions that get special ships still get them, and some of the pirates also get a few extra ships. Take a look and see what you think.

So, larger factions start actually with less ships per base than smaller ones? I suppose this is to balance them, but it's a bit strange.

Also, I don't see any difference between those two cases:

If the number is 2, then the party finds 1 system.

If the number is 1, then the party finds two systems, however you may only claim 1 of them. The other remains hidden, and other players may explore for it.

In both of them, the EP returns, you get one system, and the other is still hidden.

3rd, can the planets in Unknown Gamma be attacked/captured?

4th, those two paragraphs are contradicting each other:

All units may be moved up to three systems each turn through systems whose controlling faction’s status toward you is neutral or better. Units move 1 system per turn otherwise. Bases are stationary, and may not be moved.

7) Q: How is travel time calculated when the route passes through a mix of friendly and unfriendly systems?

A: Each jump through a non-hostile system takes 1 turn. Each jump through a hostile system takes 3 turns. So for example, if your route passed through 1 friendly system, then 2 hostile systems, and then 2 friendly systems, the trip would take 9 turns total to complete (1 + 3 + 3 + 2).

I think what he means is a jump through non-hostile space costs 1 movement point, a jump through hostile space costs 3 movement points, and you only get 3 movement points a turn, and they don't stack up (guessing that part). If i'm wrong, then nevermind.

Well, I'm not writing the rules, but, In past CYOF games, both unknowns were not in the game. If VD is following this, than I don't think that you will be able to.

I'll try to join this CYOF, but I've gotten a job, so it could be hard.

Post Sun May 21, 2006 7:20 am

Sorry for the long absence, but my prospect for a job this summer fell through, so job hunting is taking up a lot of time. As a result, I am handing things over to gunblader and emporer. If I get some free time I may try to play, but I just can't give this game 100% right now.
