Not a bad idea emporer. If you want to work something like that up, perhaps we gan put it in the first page of the game thread as a quick reference guide to the rules.

Yes, good idea too. Please fix all the errors/misconceptions and send me the doc (or post a link here for everyone to see), and I'll get to it.

I'm pretty busy right now so I wouldn't look for any major progress before Thursday.

Post Fri Apr 21, 2006 5:23 am

It's not quite done yet, but most of the major issues with the rules and the calculator have been fixed now. Take a look when you get a chance.

I also put up a list of all the bases by faction. I haven't found any source that lists the population of all bases, so short of flying to every single base and looking at the infocard, I had to make things up as I went along. Generally anything with 'outpost' or 'border station' in its name is classified as a small base. If anyone can give me compelling reasons why they think any base should have it's size changed, I will consider editing the list.

Not bad. Missing a few things lke the battleships, but not bad. How did you figure out the base sizes?

As stated in the post, from www.arbiter.de.

That is an excelent reference, even better than the datastorm utility, especially for people like me who are running modded versions and don't have the original maps available. I'll add a link to this site to the starter post.

I have put up the up to date base list. Several of the pirate bases have sizes that differ from those in emeror's list since the data for these was incomplete. Look over this list and see if there are any final issues that need to be adressed before adopting this as the official list.

Have you thought about being a judge or admin emporer? You seem to have a pretty good grasp on the rules, and I can't thank you enough for some of these resources you find.

Yes, I've thought of it, in fact, I wanted to apply for that position. But as I've already said, the rules seem too confusing to me even as a player. Of course, I can help whenever it's needed, but being a full-time judge would be too difficult for me, at least for now.

Part of the problem is that players will tend to exploit every little loop-hole to get ahead. Trying to solve these problems once the game has already started is a huge headache, so I have tried to make these rules cover as many concievable issues as possible. The result of that is a very large set of rules that are confusing for those new to the game. In fact, thats the primary porpose of the more restrictive advancement system. Players will have time to get their feet wet with small simple factions before diving into the logistics nighmare of running a house government single handed. By winning awards, a player can prove that they have mastered a faction and are ready to move on.

The good news is that I'm almost done revising the rules. Once I finish we can work on a less initimdating set of basic rules to give players a basic idea of how to play.

Great, let me know when it's done. If you have ICQ, you can also add me - 328-360-784 and we can discuss it faster.

Post Wed Apr 26, 2006 11:35 am

So? When do we start?

Post Wed Apr 26, 2006 12:01 pm

The revisions to the rules and turn calculator are finished and available from the links in the title post. Please look them over and check for any final issues you may have with them. I'll make any necessary last adjustments and release the official versions.

I will put a signup thread up as soon as the rules are finalized.

Welcome gunblader. Nice to have you with us, I can definitely use another administrator.

Yes, everyone (including me ) is starting over. The idea is to give people a chance to play some of the smaller factions that would otherwise never get used. As veterans however, you will have the opportunity to play the borderline medium factions if there is a shortage of available small factions. There may be other perks too, I just haven't figured out what they should be yet.

Believe me, it kills me not to be able to play as my beloved House Kusari, but I'll live with it for the sake of giving everyone a shot to advance.
