Hi!I'm new here and I am a realy big fan of Freelancer and would love to see a sequel of it.
Anyway here is my idea for a dynamic storyline, hope yopu like it

-You will start off as a rookie freelancer from Rheinland and at the start of the game you are asked a simple question by a friend which determines which camapign you wil follow and solve (there are 3). For the other 2 you have to strt a new game (replayability!)
Question: Out of these, which do you is the best looking HF ship?
1) Crusader
2) Defender
3) Dragon

-I guess it is clear that 3 ships relate to the 3 campaigns which I have called ( Bretonia's Blood, Deadly Secrets, Annihalation )

-In the first you arrive at Planet Leeds and meet none other than Edison Trent, founder of the Lancers Guild, as you leave the planet and enter a trade lane, everything goes berserk, every ship literaly short circuits leaving them immobile and then an immense beam of light comes out of nowhere, hits Leeds and rips it apart in 3 huge portions. Everyone goes berserk, millions of lives are eliminated in an instant and a strange, never before heard of faction called the Sons of Hispania claims responsibility and threatens to do far worse if their demands are not met. Trent goes mad with rage and prepares to wage war on them. Can you help him? This is PERSONAL!

-In the second you arrive in Manhattan and hook up (lol) with LSF King who is now a liutenant commander. He has recived some strange information regarding the discovery of the lost sleeper ship, The Hispania in Omicron Alpha, plus the two most vicious criminal factions, The Corsairs and The Outcasts have sunndenly dissappeared, literaly as if they never existed. In their place a new faction called the Sons of Hispania have appeared weilding very ALIEN techology. Are you ready to help him solve this mystery and uncover a deadly secret?

-In the 3rd you land up in New Tokyo where the First Galactic Summit is about to take place to settle political differences. You meet Jun'ko Zane, now a high level officer, who is incharge of providing protection to newly re-elcted President Jacobi. But then something goes wrong. Through a massive attack, a group calling themselves the Sons of Hispania captures the ship carrying the 5 representitives (5th is of GMG) and makes a clean getaway. Their leader makes a statement that the representivies have been kept in 5 secret locations in 5 different edge world systems. He says that if his demands are not met, not only will he kill the representitives but will also unleash such a power on every house planet that they will end up the same way as Leeds. Are you brave enough to help Juni in the biggest manhunt ever and will you be able stop these so called Sons of Hispania from obliterating millions of people?

-Cool huh! BTW........ the last BIG FAT SAVE THE UNIVERSE MISSION will be the same so that it can tie up the different stories (though it is obvious)

Hope you like it!!!

20 Titans destroyed! HAHAHAHA!
And still counting!

Hey, how about a "distress call" feature. For instance suppose you are completely friendly with the LSF, and outside of any missions you get attacked and find yourself in a rather sticky situation. Then, if you are within scanner range of the nearest LSF station or patrol, you can send a distress call and they will come to your rescue!! How about it

Exporlare Planets + Stations
Mulitiple Docking Rings on planets
The abiltily to Change your name.
Costumes can be bought for Trent
Cargo has lots of new cargo types.
A system editor made officlay by microsoft games to create better systems.
Sellers sell thing apporite to your lvl.
Trade lanes have types for each house.

Nomads are cheeky
Nomads are sad
What makes me happy is ones that are stupid.

there are downsides to picking your own name... You're name won't be able to be said through voice actiong, as they don't know what you will pick. ( I think they should just go ala freespace 2 as "alpha 1" or something)

Post Sat Jul 22, 2006 10:24 pm

I dunno if any1 has said this yet but maybe be able to customise your ship(eg. paint jobs, wings etc.) and weapon upgrades that enhance firepower or make your weapons use less energy. also maybe even a third peson charachter that u can control while on planets or stations(im not talking explore the whole world or shoot and fight but just be able to walk to the shops and stuff).

Post Fri Aug 04, 2006 3:25 am

when you set waypoint let the ship flys to its destination without stoping every time when it comes out of trade line or jump gate!

You could add bigger ships like destroyers crusiers and other stuff some of them look good especialy liberty crusier(my favorite) they could do a lot of good to clans like supporting vessels or something like that i think that this is real good deal my old wish is to have that crusier on good visited server

Openlancer is still alive and chugging, in case anyone here would like a shot at actually doing any of these things.

When fighting other ships give them th option befor they die to eject, run or kill them if you let them eject be able to tow there ship to a station and fix it then sell it out if it's better then yours use it then sell the pilot for more money

A few things that I would like to see in the next Freelancer are...

First

I would have to add in that they should make it so that you don't need any docking rings to enter a planet. Docking rings?? Common that is so totally Spaceballs to me. What can be done instead, is to make it so that there is seamless planetary enteries and exits. With that, they should make the planets bigger to acomodate the changes. And one more thing. Make it so that you would be able to fly around the planets with in their atmosphers much like a F-22 Raptor stealth fighter plane can in a planets atmosphere.

Second

Make it so that you are able to walk around the bases, planets, and some ships that you would be able to walk around inside of..

Third

Make it so that there are more options in the game...
I am talking about customizing your charicter and name.
I am talking about making it so that you would be able to break from freelancing and get into a profession.
I am talking customizing your starship.

Fourth.

Also the game universe can be much, Much, MUCH Bigger.. I am talking approximentelly 4 x bigger than EVE Online the biggest online galaxy.

Dunno if this has been posted already in the previous 19 pages, but what about a first person shooting aspect, sorta like mauiman suggested, but lots of roleplay to be done there. Robbery, policing, bounty hunting. And, i have some ideas for new stations. A planetform Station orbitng California Minor called "Oakland Station." Or some stations orbiting the rest of the non capital planets, ie, Leeds, Denver, Los Angeles, Honshu. but the stations could probably be used into a mod. But this is about a squel, and alot more stations relaly would be nice.

Hi!

I’ve finally read the 19 pages of this topic! Uff... Now I can post my ideas for a Freelacer sequel, if there is going to be one.

About the Universe:

The planets are in fact very small in Freelancer, I think they should be bigger. Also, the distances between planets are very small. These two things are what I’ve been reading in the last 18 pages. I also agree that planets and that stuff should have more accurate sizes. However, if planets have accurate sizes, you will take ages to go from one planet to another. This happens in EVE! The sizes in EVE are accurate, but most of the space between the stations is simply useless! If the sizes are accurate, the systems wont get bigger, because the real activity of those systems is concentrated on small areas where stations are built.

About the docking rings:

I’ve seen people saying that docking rings are stupid and we should be able to land manually passing by the atmosphere, etc. Please remember that the actual NASA space shuttle takes more than 10 minutes to leave Earth! We suppose that in Freelancer those 10 minutes would be obviously reduced. Then what? Even if it takes only half of the time: 5 minutes to go to space! Even if it takes 1/5 of the time: 2 minutes to go to space, when in Freelancer you take 0 seconds if you press the Escape key while the ship is automatically launching. So I still agree with the docking rings.

Customizing stuff:

This idea has been given a few times already, I’m just going to develop it.

The ships:

When we buy a new ship, it comes in its standard default form and colours. While buying the ship, the price should change depending on your reputation, on you persuasive skills to the dealer and on the eventual ups and downs of prices, inflation, etc. The persuasion should be a matter of probability. After buying it, we should be able to paint it, write our own text on it being free to choose colours, effects and everything. Then we should be able to change everything since type of engines, number of engines (we can have 2 engines of one type and other 2 engines of another type), position of engines and wings (this would change the behaviour of the ship), the width and weight of the ship which would change the cargo hold size, position of weapons, and also be able to manage the amount of power that the engines provide to the ship’s weapons, shield and the engines power themselves. We should also be able to add things to the ship like wings to increase stability. After modelling the ship, we should be able to customizing it even more! Isn’t this and RPG? We should be able to choose the materials of the ship. The materials would be cheaper and more expensive depending on the station where you are and depending on your reputation. Different materials would increase or decrease ship’s heaviness and its behaviour in space. Even more than this, we should be able to mix materials on the ships armour and have more than one layer of armour with different materials. While fighting, we should be able to damage other ship’s engines, and even blow other ships with a single shot right on the middle of an engine. I think I have nothing more to add to the ships, the rest is up to Microsoft of whoever makes a Freelancer sequel.

The weapons:

The weapon’s price should depend on the same things I explained on the ship prices. We should be able to modify our weapons, over clocking them for example. If we over clocked them, they would consume more energy per second but would also take much more damage per second. However, we would take the risk that the weapon could overheat too much and explode. This would result in a loss of a weapon and the damage of the ship’s hull. We should be able to choose our weapon’s materials and that stuff..

---------------------------------
Ok at least for now I’m done with ideas. Sorry for my terrible English mistakes at grammar and sentences construction… everything!

Reading nineteen pages! Thats alot, I was thinking about it but I only did about three pages.

What I want is, as mentioned before, a more interesting life as a miner. That is that you can get many of the resources you need by mining. That way you could make your own utilities and ships. This means that you could save game in space, if not including MP...

Being a miner shouldnt be the simpliest thing either, many harsh enviornments demands you to specialize your vehichle and utilities for the exact locatioon and cause. Things like total mass, mass per volume, shape, ect. could be modified ( a bit like in the racing PC game Need for speed U2) giving advantages to the miner in his mining enviornment.

Utilities shouldnt just be a laser gun, an advanced HP system would be inteteresting, allowing utilities like drills and other things that works differently on different surfaces and smelters and the like to be equipped at the ship.

Some people want more up-gradeability at their ships. I think it is important that certain dis-advantages comes with expensive "better" stuff, like they get easily destroyed in harsh enviornment and are expensive to repair to make the game more about strategy, not what you have accomplished before.

I think it is important with realistic physics, especially gravity gets important. Land vehichles should be possible, but making a game too advanced make it boring for new players just searching for adventure. I have myself removed the "linear_drag" from all ships and engines in my FL game to make ships float endlessly in space. Linear drag determines how much the ships get slowed down over time and their maximum speed, making flying very easy for an average FL space sim. Linear drag isnt realistic in open space, but it is realistic in planet atmosphere so the games with realism should start there.

I like the thought of a partly strategic game a bit like Age of Empires (everyone know what I am talking about right?). Just that you are only one person which could do different things like flying small space-ships, foot-travel on planets and also in Astronaut suits in space, and give orders to your company or battleship or just suggest if the situation is democratic or something. You might just start as an "average-Joe" living in a poor society with their inhabitants mining with simple small vehichles in Ice-Asteroid fields which require advanced maneuvering to be money-efficient and then you get your money to do bigger the business.

I hope you liked my ideas
