Nova Design - Epsilon updates (Screenshots included)

Hey all...

Made this thread to stop the main Epsilon thread from getting too crowded with images. From now on, any new screenshots of the mod and works in progress of ships going into the mod will go here. I'll kick it off with some screenshots from my new system Gemini II, and a picture of the updated Cyclone. On the Cyclone I removed those clunky fixed guns and retextured it to look more suited to a combat group or mercenaries...I also added a trim to the cockpit area, recessed the canopy, added some torpedo pods into the big energy pods on the side, and slimmed it down a bit. It is also alot fewer poly's now.

Alright everyone...Like I promised, some pictures from the new system which I've been building, Gemini II. It's a huge system (slightly larger than New York) and contains a large contigency of many factions from Bretonia and Liberty (it lies between the two houses). It has multiple pirate bases as well as police and commercial installations. It's also complete with multiple nebulas and asteroid fields.

















Those of you that know me know that I can't make a post with lots of screenshots without showing off some new weapon effects Here is the new effect for the Dragon Breath

Some piccys of Harrier's newest work in progress, the Praetorian. This ship is truly a monster. It is larger than the Liberty dreadnought (I have included a scale of the two ships in the screenshots) and will carry a loadout that tops any battleship native to the game. It will be dockable as a fixed base, though I don't recommend approaching it if it shows up red.







The model is still in progress as you can see. Also, the Liberty Dreadnought is missing some parts of the model there, that's simply because Milkshape has a Poly Limit and the fewer polys in the model the more efficiently it runs, so parts of the Dreadnought that weren't needed for scale were removed.

hey parabolix you were right i do like that new cyclone model but please leave the engine alone i really like the look of the current engine trail its awesome

Ahhh Odin, good to see you checked out the thread like you said you would Yep, the engine will stay 100% the same. None of the coding for the ship has changed, just the look of the model. No more clunky fixed guns!

Recently had an urge to start making some new engine effects (like I did for the Cyclone). Here are some of the results of my fiddling with effect codes. They are all on the Black Lance, but that's only because I was currently flying one in my single player game

Sorry for the long delay...We've been working on new ships, effects, and tuning up existing ships and weapons. Here are some screenshots of the new fighter, the Archangel .











Harrier was also experimenting with glowmaps on this ship. Glowmaps make the ship...Glow Here are two screenshots that show the difference.

Thanks Richard and Predator. I also remodeled the Kusari Nazo fighter, the Enigma. I couldn't stand that model! The new model is much nicer imo. Harrier is currently texturing it (his textures blow mine out of the water ) and I will put some pictures of it up when it's finished.

Also, on another note, Epsilon is proceeding very smoothly, and a beta version is probably not far around the corner. Would either, or both, of you be interested in running a test server? We will get you hooked up with all the necessary files of course. Just let us know.

Hi Parabolix, I told Harrier awhile back that I would. But the problem I am having at the moment is lack of time to maintain the server. I'm running Tie Universe 9.1 at the moment but I don't know for how much longer I can even do that. But circumstances may change so when the beta is ready fire an e-mail to me or pm on the server forum,and hopefully I can run it

i have no problems with it i can run it. plus once i get my charge card cleared away i getting a second computer with 3 memory slot and 4 gigs of ram capacity thats going to run the server. the actual link is on my forums if you wanna look at the computer its an acer

It will hopefully not be long before we have a beta.. then we may propose to add a couple of extra bits with patches, I have a couple of new ships and a capship (that has become a bit of long project), I would like to add and Parabolix has been working on some new weapons, we have 5 new systems by Buck Danny added and some 'modifications' to a couple of others.. We have tested it extensively in Sp and minimally in Mp without problems in the main.. the new Systems are mainly 'fringe' systems.. and if certain parties are not friendly .. (and allies are rare.. nasties abound with nasty loadouts) survival is hazardous.. you cannot sit idly is space contemplating your navel.. do so and it'll be the last thing you see...lol ..
