Epsilon Version 2.7 - comments and feedback

Hi folks,

Epsilon 2.7 is almost there.... (phew) edit: now released as Epsilon 2.71

Update: I have been asked to provide a link to 2.71 as there seems to be some confusion as to which is which..lol the mod can be downloaded Here

Some notes:

Epsilon mod Version 2.7

This mod is designed to reverse the way it is in freelancer... we have found that in both single player but more so in multiplayer that players sit around in New York and complain about the fact that nothing happens.... so we decided to make that a very deadly proposition .. and I'm sorry if it does not please you.. initially you will die a lot and for that we will get flames.. however if it gets people into neighbouring systems (where they will find another new series of also uber enemies).. then the player will have to do missions or trade or tap wrecks because he/she will have to upgrade to survive... Saunter forth from Manhattan bleary eyed, with a cup of coffee in one hand and a donut in the other, you wont live long enough to say WTF was that. If you take medication do so, if you are a wimp dont play this mod, go play in the park with a dog and a ball instead.

We have introduced 10 new AI - 5 bad and 6 good

The bad guys:

Liberty: Elementals- in small fast hard to hit ships that attack in waves without provocation.. you will probably hate them with a passion.

Rheinland: Atlantean's - also in small fast ships should be ok if you kill enough of the others.. you can get friendly.

Bretonia: Spiders - as bad as they get.. very very nasty.

Kusari: Lizards, again you can get onto the right side of these.. very uber attack in waves...heavy fighters as well as light.

Border Worlds - Zodiacs... (not ready yet) - will not be in this version

The "good" guys"

Liberty: Rangers - fully fitted out.. they will save your arse many times... 3 ships, from light to heavy

Rheinland - Hussars - a match for the Atlantean's - will also save your arse if the Atlantean's dislike you..

Bretonia: Invincibles - if you make an enemy of the Bretonian military or police - they will treat with you like they tolerate the spiders .. which is not at all.. good ally tho.

Kusari: - Nazo... There is a long history of elite fighters in oriental history - the Kusari Nazo Bushido... supposedly factionless and entirely impartial - formed to fight lizards do not get on the wrong side of these they will kill you very quickly

Border World: Exiles - the suicide squadron - consists mainly of Corsair, Outcasts, Bounty hunter, and other scum - exiled for crimes against their home faction - now while these are "good" they remember old enmity and will kill you as quick as look at you ... but kill enough nomads and zodiacs and they will like you well enough.. in the meantime avoid, they have three ships.. all in various classes of uber

E.D.I - Epsilon Defence Industries - Munitions Masters, Sirius wide, responsible for many of the new equipment and weapons. Keep your finger off the trigger when you find these guys, otherwise you may not live long enough to say oops... Will take on any of the "bad guys" may well be your saviour if they do happen along.

One final note: We make no apologies for the difficulty of this mod - so dont go whinging that it is too hard. It will fall on deaf ears. If you want to play a mod that gives you wide eyes and sweaty armpits hop on for a wild ride. we welcome your CONSTRUCTIVE comments..

Server operators: there is no need to add extra files to this mod.. if you do we may ask you to remove it from your server.

Harrier.

I just wanted to mention a few possible bugs, and ask a few questions.

First off theough, I gotta say ... You!! Guys!! Rock!!

I always have a difficult time finding games I like and usually the ones I do like are never made into sequels and then I get to wait aroud until the next one comes along.

You guys totally took care of that for me, I still get to play the same type of game I like but it's still different and new to explore.

Ok enough kissing up I was just wondering about the jumphole(s) to and in Arena, are they suppose to be just something to catch dorks like me who will be willing to spend over an hour going through all the jumpholes only to keep ending up back at the same place just over a few spaces?

Also I noticed that the stars that I would click on for info, were big rectangular blank boxes,

Is that whole area a big work in progress or am I jsut expecting more than I should?

Either way you guys kick Azz!

jpnovo,

The arena is a work in progress, but basically it was designed to be just what it says, an arena.. we will keep you posted on developments in that area.

This is the first time I got artifacts with a mod... It's too bad, cos I've got blocks everywhere. FL ain't corrupt, I got the 61.77 Forceware drivers (which are the latest ones. I can't find the problem, all I know is that it appears at some moment, but I can't define which moment.

Oh, btw, do other people using an FX5600 have FL NOT recognizing their graphics card?

I see living people... Not for long unfortunately... hehehehehehehehe

Post Mon Sep 06, 2004 2:50 pm

Xploited, the problem is most likely not your graphics card, some effects show up like blocks at certain times, im working on them currently.

Post Mon Sep 06, 2004 10:10 pm

OK, thanks for the info... I noticed it was a double problem: blocks were not only created by the mod, but the driver of the graphics card was completely corrupt (previous versions were not uninstalled correctly).

I reinstalled correctly the driver and I will now test the mod further

I like it, even though there are bugs here and there like IDS problems, Warlord ship has no stats... I forgot to take note But I'll check in often to help you

I see living people... Not for long unfortunately... hehehehehehehehe

Hey guys, just wanted to pop in and say what a great mod this is and a big leap forward in playing FL..The ships are all awsome (except when shooting at you) and the loadouts of the custom ship's, well, not much one can say about greatness..This is a small mod to DL with all the things you guys put in it and never a dull moment so i would highly recomend it to anyone looking for a change from your run of mill mommies mod..FYI players, they warned us up front about it being hard..Brings new meaning to you can run but not hide..Again, well worth the wait and an outstanding job done by all on it..Many Thanks..

Hi guys. Just started playing this great lookin mod. after completing Evolutions and looking for some new blood.
One prob I can't seem to get around. I'm flying the Tempest and find that it is very jumpy - flies very light - like the Starflyer in my box and am having trouble working out how to settle it down.
Any pointers??
cheers.....

CM2010,

The systems you list are in 2 main places, the Dundreggan, Amdor, systems have a gate in Galileo then its up to you to explore, the others have an entry in Chugoku N/W of Kyoto base. Richoh is in Rheinland and the admin system is for admins only.

Rellik,

Thanx, we tried hard to make this mod other than namby pamby and warned ppl that it was not for the faint hearted..

marnmacca,

The handling issues with the Tempest are being looked at.. will get back with an update.

Just a quick idea, you may want to increase the payment for missions in the 38th Parallel system. I think that $6,000 for killing ten Spiders is a little low.
