has anyone tried it in multiplay? Extra speed for one in reynens mod prolonged dogfights to unbearable levels, he has cut the speeds some by now. In sp, you can avoid most fights with light fighters, only first two and area21 missions include those i think. Any other issues?

Fangman's: try using your afterburner or even cruise to get to Epsilon 4 as soon as possible, than shoot at all the pirates to make them come after u, instead of him. than kill them ... . Taking on 8 enemies it's very hard in normal Freelancer and I tried to make single player more challennging, not more easy.

lammas, and don't know what version of Rey's mod did u play but at 2.0 beta the speed of ships was 200 for your ship and about 110 for the npc and they were easy to kill. U probably played a early version when all ships had 200 speed and all shields were all scaled and 100000. That is the one with 1/2 hour 1vs1 dogfights..
Anyway guys I'll be gone for a few days, but keep posting and i'll answer when I get back, Tueday next week that is. Be sure to download verion 0.5c as it has the infocards updated, from my site it has also the cards for TIE's and Blood Dragon along with ship names...I hope they upload it here on Lancers Reactor as well.

yep, i regarded the extra speed as an issue before trying it , ) I do think the default speeds are fine but i guess most ppl welcome some(very logical) tweaks

I wasn't using "umodded saved games". What I was using was Open SP along with the Balancing mod. Open SP starts you out after the story line ends. The level 21 comes from starting the game with 500,000 credits.

I agree with you (this was the point I was trying to make in my original post) that fighting eight or more bad guys is very unbalanced. It's bad enough having to do it in an unmodded game (I've been successful maybe 50% of the time), but with the Balancing mod activated, it is impossible.

The Balancing Mod does balance out things when it's head to head, but when it comes to gang it gets very unbalanced quick.

Reynen's Mod suffers from the same problem as the Balance Mod. Both are done with PvP in mind. The problem with this line of thinking is that the game randomly puts the player in situations where it isn't head to head but head to gangs of heads.

I really like this rebalancing mod; It works out very well.

If you are 1 vs. a gang, it should be near impossible! Sometimes you just need to run away, and sometimes you just need a bigger ship or set of weapons. I don't think I have any complaints for this mod.

Just keep up the bugfixes and goodies.

Oh yeah, my afterburners make me go 320 (m/s?) in space, but cruise engines only go 400...? I don't think cruise should go any faster, but the afterburners seem a little too fast...? But it is true, I have a big thruster on a small fighter, so it does make sense to be fast.

Keep up the good work, and keep balancing it. I like the idea of having advantages and disadvantges to ships so you can't have 'one best ship'...

I don't want to hit a 'top level' where there is nothing to do... so keep the random mission types coming!

Anvanced/Order Thrusters should be HF/VHF only. This adds a new aspect to HF/VHF ships. Perhaps you should increase cruise to 500 to satisfy everyone here. ;-)

On the other hand: extra speeds slow down the server even more. Perhaps we should just keep speeds where they are. Ever thought decreasing freighters to lower than 80?

I don't think speeds are this important. They were fine in 0.5, perhaps they are even better now (havent checked out .5c yet). Have a look at encounters like Reynen and Thundercleese did. I would really like a fleet of Libertonian cruisers protecting Planet Manhatten. :-)

Colonel Chris: Please read the original first post from Michael Dan above. He did mention that this mod is specially made for the SP experience of this game.
IMHO, I think the speeds are good. It just gives the light fighters more chance to get in more shots before enemies cruise off. Btw, you can't have cruise speed higher than 450 I think because there is a mission that it will be near impossible to complete which is the race mission.

Of course this primarily is a SP mod, but ANY mod only makes sense in MP (thought in long terms). A mod that is compatible with MP will become significantly more famous than a SP-only one.

Currently MD's mod works fine in MP, so there's no need to cry. But you should always have an eye on MP compatibility.

I need help installing this. I tried with FLMM didn't work. Tried copying the rebalance05c.flmod file in the data directory doesn't work. Please help.

Tried a newer Version of FLMM? Perhaps you have to wait for FLMM to finish!

Just download to your desktop, double click it and activate it in flmm.

But I just discovered something sneaky in this mod...level 7 corsairs in brettonia... I am only level 6 and 4 of them jumped me in their souped up Centurions which are for sale in dublin on bs Essex...But if memory serves me right, once i reach level 11 i must escape again for the rheinlanders...

I also found it a bit hard to save beta4 earlier on, i had to max out completely because the enemies are so much tougher now that they use those batteries and me thinks you lowered the punch on certain weapons, slightly.

I was playing a MOD of my own creation with the cruise speed set at 600 and I was able to complete the race with a patriot and a eagle. took a few times to do it mind you.

Every mod download from your personal site I get says 'Unexpected end of archive'... What is the problem?

djVgalen...I did not lowered no weapon punch, but i increased damage on Corsairs and mollys weapons so stick around BS essex doing missions and u'll get some of those Angelitos or Dublin Dusters...they hit hard, it's the smarter way to fight back Corsairs.
phroot, i don't know what's wrong with the download, the archive was checked before I uploaded it....if your download does'nt work you probably have to wait till they post it here...verion 0.5d it's already sent and has infocard names and ship loadout updates, plus a new ship buyable at planet manhattan.

Wohoo. I finished the game in SP. I dunno what to say but I found it a little easy. At the end of the game I was using a banshee 2 stealth class7 and the rest class 6, ripper mine and catapault missile.
