Have an idea for a ship from a comic series from the sixties
called Willi's adventures. The ship itself called SM5 has magnetic propulsion
and three 360 degrees lasers.
I plan to use Milkshape 3D for this project. Can you use that format in your project?

i use 3dsmax 5 and I can export it into ms3d that is an .ms3d file not .3ds file.
if you like can i have a picture of it. and check it out if i can model it.

the only probelm i am having with modeling is the UV mapping/texture preparation. I can use lightwave to "Bake" shaders and precedurals onto an "Atlas" style map but this type of map is really complex looking. Right now im particing on my manticore model. looks good but anyhting does with a 2048*2048 pixel texture wrapped on it

try making your texture a dds file instead of a tga file. And try scaling down your model so you can fit the texture easily.

NO NO NO NO. hehehehe your telling something i already know hehehehe. What im talking about is an actaul "unfolded" wireframe image of the modl yo use as a stencil for the model's texture. I tried doing it in Lghtwave but ive only found ONE tutorial that works for me. Although, if i ever make any ships that i can use Procedural textures on, baking them will make them look awesome ( imagine a Shadow witha prefectly matching tile on it)

I guess you can use the UVW unwrap function in 3dsMax?

Post Tue Oct 21, 2003 4:56 pm

i dont have 3ds Max.
