Ok time for some bad news..

FLSE 0.4 will be delayed, heres the deal.. I had a HDD Failure a week or so ago,
and didnt make backups (heh i know what ur thinking..) So i lost the whole 20k
lines of code or so..

But, I've already start reprogramming it, and its already starting to look better.

Point being, 0.4 wont be released for another 2 weeks at least. I'm sorry for
those who were waiting for it.

Thats all for now.

hey sorry to hear about your set back & that v0.4 won't be out this week.I love the editor, its nice & easy to use(mostly).
i have a couple feature requests & a bug report for you:

1.adjustable tradelane maker z angle(so i can choose 0 for more vertical lanes or orient to path for shallower ascents), z orientation should be put last not first(or am i wrong on this)

2.Remotely read actual modded universe.ini file in chosen directory,i.e save system files to data\universe\systems\ab01\ab01example.ini

3.bug: system editor will not assign or save more than one nebula, if you have more nebulas listed it will keep the last and the rest will be lost(i wonder what its doing with them),anyways if you want to use more nebulas you need to keep the list separate and paste it in after saving / tis annoying

p.s. awesome how the selectbox information is all saved in texts, much easier to add archetypes, really looking forward to visualized patrol paths and more support for nebulaes

How's it going?

Post Sun Mar 20, 2005 10:12 am

how do we make mods out of them?

I'm having a problem with the editor. I scanned the threads and looked for a readme but couldn't find anything to help me. I cannot even start the editor. I get an error message "Component 'MSCOMCTL.0CX' or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid" I've tried re-installing, changing the installation directory, completely deleting and re-downloading, no effect. Can someone help me or am I 'without a paddle?" Thanks for any help you can give me.

Ok, so I have the can't open universe.ini bug, but I found that if I open a system ini file it works fine. Only problem is that the field I have set up (asteroid and nebula) are both rotated 90 degrees from where they should be. I don't know if this is a bug or not (ie, it writes the system file like that or it changes it back the right way), but I thought I'd let you know.

I don't know where this is going but I have to say again this is a great utility - very intuitive with an attractive uncrowded GUI - even if no further progress is made this will remain in my collection of essential utilities as a good program for rough drafting systems.that said has anybody seen PsyCadelik recently?

me too, where is that guy?

Post Fri Oct 14, 2005 2:34 pm

maybe the EOA consortium(sounds evil eh? ) hired a bounty hunter to take him out for programming a better editor seriously tho,i've worried about this guy a lot - why did he just disappear in the middle of developing his program?did he give up after he lost v4.0?who shot kennedy?er-another discussion maybe.anyways, its tragic that such a promising program went vapor (

Will you ever finish this?

it's been almost a year or sumthing and you've only reached 0.3

not that I'll have much use for it... I've given up Freelancer... but I come about here once in a while.

I have completely lost contact with psycadlik and have not seen him anywhere.

I'm afraid this poor system editor is dead

If only this system editor kept going. or maybe if FLE WOULD BLOODY PUT IN EXACT POSITIONING FOR OBJECTS! *grumbles*

If anyone can reach psycadlik, try to either convince him to keep going with the editor, or have him e-mail me his source code so i can finish it (we both program in VB6).

Hello everyone,

No im not dead, yay! Now for the bad news (not that bad), since i lost 0.4 i had to redo the whole thing from scratch, which meant alot of work, which i did, and only a few things are left to finish it. But during this time I discovered a nice little 3d engine for visual basic, which would be very useful to make a 3d editor, and now probably know where im getting at, AFTER I finish 0.4 (which will be the last 2d version) FLSE plans to move to 3D, hurray for progress!

But, since I dont have the game installed and lost my cd, I dont know if theres alot of ppl still playing it. So id like some advice before making this project a reality, is it worth the 6-8 months dev time.

Ill come by this week to read replies, thx for the support everyone, and ill finish this program but cant give any estimate right now.

later!
