New Tool - Freelancer System Editor v0.3 *UPDATED*

This is the first version of a system editor/creator ive been working on the past weeks.

I hope ppl will enjoy it and find it useful.

If there are any bugs, let me know here, and ill do my best to fix it as soon as possible. As for new ideas/suggestions/comments, ill appreciate every input you have to offer, but some things i might not be able to do, like the zoom function in FLE which i loved when i tested the program.

The editor looks nice, but here are a few suggestions that might be useful :
-Make planet symbols the size of real planets, or find a way to show the user the planet's size.

-On object creation, be it a planet, base, etc, make the properties dialog appear. It will force the user to define some parameters. Also, block the user from validating until some basic parameters are entered.

-Make the symbols background transparent so they do not hide too much other symbols.

-Maybe a real nice feature would be to make an option to activate/deactivate transparency on symbols.

I might think of some others, if I do I will post here

Keep up the good work man though

Really, This seems to be a nice deviation from the buggy FLE.

Will DL Immediatly!

And from the screens it seems your tl builder have 3D cababilities...
Nea'd looks like my Mexico sys (not for platform just fun) is going to get something interesting to it now!

Oh, and should anything happen to your current hosting location it would be bad, like the 3d system editor, plz upload to tlr.

Okie a couple of issues:

How do I save me Work? those *.* gets a lil' borin' to look at

now, wauw, genius, no field cabability (sry if ur offended).

and, if you over time added more and more dropdowns.

I mean if you can operate this thing, your prolly better off doing it by notepad.

But as i said before a nice deviation from the buggy fle, and seeing as this is, what? beta? alpha? erh... early, I think a few problems are to overcome

Ok some things i should clear up,

When creating an object, some basic parameters will be put, so the user dont have to fill everything in.

The program will load/save Zones/Asteroids/EncounterParameterss if u already have them in a system, but you wont be able to edit them for now, that will be implimented in 0.2

ill also add a function to look for errors., and possibly transparency background for the icons.

This looks really great PsyCadelik!

This could be a good alternative to FLE! I only tested the program for a very short time, but until now it seems to be very good! For example the tradelane Builder is very well done.

For improvements:

- as FriendlyFire said transparent backgrounds would be better

- it would be good to see the system connections on the universemap (only a simple line)

- I'm not really sure, which parameters are set automatically, when creating a new object (As you said in your last post), but the modder should still be able to change them afterwords (For special systems, etc.)

So, these are only some hints: I really like the program.

Keep up the good work and good luck!

Wow, I havent used this program yet, but I must say that an attempt at a less buggy system builder than FLE is great. My team and I spent more time fixing errors made by FLE than it took to build the system. It wouldve been faster to build it from scratch. I hope this is as good as it looks. What a first post!

It would be great if we could get a 3D system builder, something like FRED in Freespace.

Great job, btw. The old FLE was too buggy to use.

This sounds great!

You have a TL-Builder with 3D capabilities! I think I will love it!

Keep working on it, you are doing a great job!

This tool looks like it will become a great help in making new systems.
There's nothing like exploring new systems that expands the life of the Freelancer Universe.
Thanks for all the time and effort you are putting into making this for everyone to enjoy.

I see that allot of people have already downloaded the first version.
I'm wondering if some good mods will come out of this. If nothing else
the experience gained in modifying a game can be rewarding in itself
just knowing that you have accomplished something special.

See ya all on the launchpad...
