I'm intensely annoyed at your comments regarding Grover. You do in fact have a suspicious mind and are basically talking out of your a**. I worked with Grover on this project and there's a lot more to it than you realise. It was running fine in singleplayer, the issue was to fix it for multiplayer which has proven to be the stumbling block. There were numerous innovative features that worked happily but the MP side has proved to be very difficult to get round.

Grover has RL commitments to deal with and if & when he decides to carry this on then he will, but the project was never pie in the sky, i can assure you of that!!

and our players have already expressed a strong disinterest in exploring new trade routes every time they join the server, to the point they will leave our server.

The point is, did they left really because the trade ?
Please believe, I dont want to harm you, we have a very small quantity of players.
The trade should never be a resistance for the real goal of this game: its a shooter.
But when people leave a server because of the trade, there has to be done some small things:
- an easy information, where the trade is profitable in the moment ( if it is dynamic )
- installation of some routes, where the player can make some profit as in the vanilla
Berlin - New Tokyo -Route
- give them a good start-cash, so, if they want to fight, they can easy buy a machine
If they still leave, the trade isnt the reason, I think.
I will still have fun with this part of the game !

Hi Gibbon - Well I'm not surprised you're offended, if you are part of the team. It was my intention to raise a response.

And I'm pleased to have raised a response on this subject after such a long time. People have died in the meantime, you know!! - well that's being very dramatic! But you get my point?

OK, so Grover wasn't making inuendos but has been working hard on it. But if you guys are still working on it then shouldn't you let us know from time to time? It's an excellent project to achieve. Many of us here are interested in your progress, and no news is definitely NOT good news, silence leads to loss of confidence. So "come on, Baggy, get with the beat"!

TaknTar - No, our players aren't shooters mainly. They look for ways to build up money fastest so they can buy and try as many of the ships as possible. In discussions on whether or not to apply the randomiser tool to mix up commodity prices, our players are not willing to investigate new trade routes frequently, so we won't be implementing the randomiser.

As I said this also then casts doubt on the value of this project, because it will provide real-time price changes - although it is of course a huge challenge to those who are trying to do it, and a terrific achievement if they do manage it.

Keep us posted, guys.

@Startrader

I can understand your frustrations on this but the truth is Grover keeps things close to his chest, when he's ready, you'll hear about it. I don't make the descisions, he does. Admitidley things have been quiet of late, but other issues tend to get in the way.

If you want a price randomiser that works in SP, Cold Void has the answer to that one lol

The point is to release something before FL dies.
If its working in SP, why has it not been released?
The MP implementation is of course something completely different because you need extended client-server communication, but why not release the SinglePlayer version?
I dont understand grover.

I haven't done any work on it for some time to be fair, it's his call, his project. I wish CV would go into more detail about this price randomiser he has, least it simulates a dynamic economy of sorts...

Here's AluminiumHaste's price and location Randomiser...

http://www.lancersreactor.com/t/download/download.asp?id=1872

Just run it each time you want to change the prices. It will change the market prices and/or locations for the commodities, as you choose.

You need to restart your server for it to read the new files.

All the best.

The problem with that (Aluminium hastes utuility)is that MP files need to have the same market files as the server, otherwise they get kicked on take off because there values (prices) are different.

This project is basically dead. The alternative solution is available here.

Ah, I wasn't aware of that, I was under the impression it was server-side only.

OK. I'll check out your link, Louva, thanks. As a side-note, what's the status of the next release of FL Explorer?
