New Mod anouncement, The Great War

Me and a friend are starting this mod, we are keeping it in the freelancer universe just a few years down the line after the nomad war. Rheinland has become increasingly militant and, after a huge military buildup and alliance with the corairs, began a full invasion attempt of Bretonia space. The invasion was repelled thanx to a new alliance with liberty space.

The British defend their borders against constant attacks on mining a civilisation targets by the rhienlands, unable to launch a counter attack they aide the seriously damaged Bounty hunter faction (suffering because of the rheinland corsair alliance) with supplies in exchange for espionage acts and information.

The warzone between liberty space and rheinland space is the most violent, the Rheinlanders beleive they were robbed of their victory by Liberty navy and attempt to make them pay in any way possible.

Meanwhile Kusari space remains quiet and neutral, spy reports indicate a large allocation of Kusari resources to attacking the Nomads on their own soil, disturbing information about hybred ships has led to many unanswered questions from the Liberty Navy, they are afraid to threaten for the information however fearing an assault on both fronts.

Just a basic story (probably think too much)

I'm hoping to add 2 new fighters to each race, a new freighter and a special ship. the special ships will be.....

Rheinland Artillery ship. weak at close range but able to launch 3 torpedos.
Liberty "Blue Midget" Superfast scout ship
Bretonia "Scouser" Amazingly tough freighter, running supplies to Bounty hunters
Kusari "Prototype" Medium fighter with infinite weapon power.

Also each race wil have their own strenghs

Liberty: good battery and nanobot capacity, fast ships, mostly guns
Bretonia: Large ships with excellent armour and cargo, mostly turrets
Rheinland: Good power supply, nice armour, low cargo and low speed
Kusari: Excellent Armour and speed, low weapons and batteries

Other points...

All factions will receive an extra ship at least
The nomads will be extended heavily. Though with the texture problems here I may replace with another organic race. I want these to house a spherical ship which can attack in any system but rarely.
there will be at least 6 top leavel ships, (I like choice)
Battle ships, Gunboats and cruisers will be seriously enhanced for encounters
there will be two hidden ship (very hidden) not much better than top level, maybe 5 percent.
All ships will be freeware, the community is welcome to them.

well we have got our first 5 ships into game and into encounters. I got buttons and infocards down perfect

Decided to add some new turrets and gates. with heavier armuments.

Also since I have access to thousands of trek models I may some new systems and add these after.

any thoughts?

Yeah a thought is that if you're gonna make something based on the original freelancer universe. DON'T ADD STAR TREK SHIPS. Stick to original designs that fit in the Freelancer universe.

well, the group as a whole id more for just freelancer, the fed ships I'm gonna release as a pack addon.

god no, we started it last monday are are 6 ships into it, another 24-26 planned and 8 stationarey objects, new encounters and empathies to deal with. Possibly 4-5 weeks then I'll set up a server on my mothers oldie

update :

Added the super freighter, budget freighter, rheinland Very heavy fighter, civilian very light fighter and Liberty Very Heavy fighter brings total ships to 10 so far

Readjusted all ship prices to draw the game out, also going straight into rheinland space is now very difficult due to corsair patrols.

Added first new set of weapon, sort of laser gattling gun to the liberty. the serafin Mk 1,2,3.

Replaced the intro picture and trents costume with syds...

Decided to remove all super weapons from Wrecks, A few more super weapons will be added and these will be salvageable from the now very strong battleships

Also will add a few new commodities. one planned is old milkyway artfacts. Buyable for a good price in the upper tau system and good price paid in dublin, I'm hoping to add alternatives to the known high paying routes.

Maby as an addon you can be able to buy crusers and b-ships,then you could really fight in the war??????

lol, it was agreed nothing other than fighters and freighters for version 1 though I understand what you mean.

you mean what stage?

well about 12 ships done and two work in progress. 2 new sets of weapons. attitudes adjusted and thats about it. Still loads to do but there is just me and a friend doing it. like I said, you can see all the ships so far on the web page

well, I have a 2 week holiday to cyprus coming up which cuts into it, plus we are replacing every ship now and adding more to it so I guesing a few months. However my coding isn't very good so I'll have to improve at that.

I'm thinking late august/early september.
