Samurai Studios - Alternate Universe Mod Information & Update

This mod will incorporate lots of missing items from freelancer. It will also be highly player interactive. Each players efforts, action or lack there of will have an effect on thier faction. These are just a few of the things we will be doing for this mod:

1) Each Faction will have a full range of ships, including these along with the default ones: New Starter ship, Interceptors, Medium fighter, Light Bomber, Heavy Bomber.

2) Each Faction will have a full range of guns, missles, mines, and equipment ranging from class 1 to 10

3) Each faction will have 'Special' Class 10 weapons

4) Each faction will have capital ships in each of these classes: Gunboat, Corvette, Frigate, Destroyer, Light Cruiser, Heavy Cruiser, Battleship, Dreadnaught, and Carrier. As well each faction will have 3 faction specific frieghters from small to large.

5) 4 all new factions will be added. Each with thier own unique weapons, ships, and equiopment.

6) Tons of new commodities will be added. Both Legal & contraband. There will also be contraband items that will be illegal in some houses and not others.

7) an all new default New Character Ship to replace the Starflier.

8) Players will be allowed to construct bases, tradelanes, etc ...

9) Players will be allowed to colonize and settle new systems

10) Some of the standard upgrades will also be included like: Armour, Scanner, Deep Scanner, Engines, and more ...

11) The Universe will be destructable, so if your fleet invades a system you can wipe it clean!

12) We will be incorporating the Docking/Mooring fix by Wanderer/Chips/and Duriel_LOP

Plus alot more as the mod is developed ...

We have already started to post pics of some of the new ships that we have designed and will be using in the mod.

The development is well underway and we plan Alpha Testing to begin near the end of this month.

*** UPDATE ***

Small update,

We have posted a contest for a ship design.

The design will be for an interceptor style fighter. Here are the details:

Rules:

-the ship must be sleek, fast looking.
-It must suit the Hispania nation (Hint: Think Out casts or Corsair)
-Must not have more than 4 Guns points, 1 Turret, CD, & Mine
-You can submit upto 5 designs each.
-other than that use your imagination.

For the Winner, we will give them full credits in the readme for the mod, plus you will get a base named after you in one of the Hispania systems, and finally you will be allowed to help us beta test the version that your design will be included in.

Have fun all, i look forward to seeing what you guys are capable of.

i like the looks of this mod. ill try it out when its released. i especially like the ability to colonize and such. if its as good as you say it is, i suspect many of these features will become standard on the major mods. also, the stuff you talked about will encourage large clans and huge battles. just make sure you make the capital ships right; its very annoying when you are shooting battleship guns and your ship gets rammed. take a look at victor's 1.62 mod. that is the only problem i have with that particular mod. i think it may be caused by mass values being set too low, combined with slow turning and low speed. the same thing happens if your fighter gets rammed, but, due to speed and manuverability, you dont spend 10-15 seconds waiting for your ship to stop spinning. instead, your ship just suddenly changes direction. oh, and is it possible to add automated turrets as a buyable weapon? cause that would help battleships to be able to defend against fighters (but not bombers). thanks

Really? The ability to build tradelanes and bases?! Neat!
