house cleaning and total balance

Did you ever wonder why corsairs or rheinlanders havnt overrun Sirius yet? Well I do ask myself that everytime I start FL and so I modiefied my FL a bit, but now I think im going to do a real mod.

The point is to equal out the houses and their ships + weapons.
Light Fighters 2000 armor, 2 guns
Heavy Fighters 4000 armor, 4 guns
V Heyvy Fighters, 4000 armor, 6 guns
Freighter, 7500 armor, some turrers

Liberty, low armor (25% less), improved weapon load out (ie 1 gun more), fast
Bretonia, standard (no advantages, but also no disadvantages)
Kusari, improved powerplants, better armor, but sturdy and slow
Rheinland, heavy armor and weapon loadout, but slow and less agile

weapons, will be modiefied in their damage output to match the new armor/shield settings
Liberty, very high power usage, but good stats (higher damage, higher range, higher speed)
Bretonia, standard
Kusari, high refire rates, standard damage and power
Rheinland, very low power usage, but not so great stats...

The purpose of this thread is to a) get the info if you are actualy interested in such a mod b) if there are some people who would like to help c) to get some feedback on how you think you would balance the houses (the description above is just a brief example)

Dependet on the feedback here I will or will not do the mod

Good idea, Have you also thought about the balance between freighter and fighter? It always seemed unfair that a rhino a freighter carries almost the same amount of cargo as as some of the heavy freighters, and fairly unrealistic that a light fighter can carry 20 tonnes of cargo.

yes, that is one of the things I want to do

the balance should not also come for the houses, but anything in FL that was somehow "odd", ie fly behaviour, the cargo hold problem, weapon loadouts, light fighters will never again be able to take out a capital ship, but you know, as said there is a lot of things to do, but noone knows if they wll work or not

I agree with your premise here. I've always found the imbalance between the different house factions to be nonsensical as well. One thing though: I think it'd be more fitting for you to swap the values you're proposing between Liberty & Kusari. Why? Because in the original game, Kusari had the fastest & most agile of the fighters (the Dragon), & thus seemed to be their shipbuilding focus. It would retain a bit more consistency to the original game & what people have come to expect, IMO.

I would like to see a general de "uber" of most of the ships. I have made quite
a few changes and gone back and forth with their effects for my personal game.

I think most weps installed are far too powerful. I agree that the cargo capacity
of most fighters is far to great as well. At the same time some of the freighters
are have far too powerful.
