hi every1.
i don't know if it is for good but i hav noticed that the Global server is down...

iv been told by so people that Microsoft had plans to shut the server down for good...

could someone plz tell me if this is true or not coz i will b REALLY annoyed if it is >

btw im also am helpin ADMINa new server and this will b a waste of time if it is bein shut down. so PLZ tell me if i right tell me if what i hav heard is correct. BUT plz also tell me if im ronge so i can correct the people that told me

A note - would it be possible to get the global server changed? There's some settings in freelancer.ini that can be changed to redirect where FL connects...

ok lemme say it this way...

yes you can change the gls but what does it help?

only ppl that know about it will be able to use the new gls... new players which buy FL in store will simply click on multiplayer... then they will see that FL cant connect to any servers... and then they will most likely say "****, i go any play something else"
they simply dont know that there is a "way around" and they very likely dont even know about possible mods that will create this "way around" and LR is also something which they dont know

so if the gls goes down then many players wont know what to do and stop playing... sure there will be enough which go on playing their mods but vanilla FL will be almost dead then which means no new players for the FL community

im just speaking out of experience... Starlancer did die in the same way

Well to be honest arent mos of our mods basically illegal

(copyright infringement etc)

But maybe someone could open a commnication channel with Microsoft and try to sort out a compromise from which Modders can run the entire thing...apparently this happened with a very old game, cant remember the name but ill try to get the link.

the global server is down because redmond washington was hit by a large storm, four people died as a result of the storm, but hey - your global server list is down..call the national guard!
