The Complete Guide to Setting Up an FL Server
Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!
Hey, I'm wanting to run a FL server, and I want one of my friends who plays FL ALOT more than I do to sorta act like the server's police. Are there any commands he can type in to kick abusive players? Because my server will be running on my comp, not his. And it's running my mod files. Anyway, if it's possible, I'd like a list of commands one could type in to make things easier for thoughs who wish to be apart of my server's "SWAT" team ;D. Thx guys!!!
Two questions:
1. Do I need Broadband Internet for this? I've only got this crappy 28.8 kbp connection that goes whenever anyone calls anyone else in my street (thank-you-oh-so-much-not split telephone line) Plus, if the internet's not active for more than 2 hours, the Optus Adelaide computer stops talking to my computer and the connection fritzes. By that I mena the connection is faulty and VEEEEERY SLOW.
2. Will I have to run my computer constantly to do this? Sorry to ask, it's probably stupid, but I won't be able to run my server if the internet has to be connected 24/7. My mum would murder me over the bill. Plus, we have limited hours. VERY LIMITED.

@Nabishamash - Unless you have the hash codes and their meanings specifically made up for IFSO, forget using IFSO for editing. I don't have good enough files for my Epsilon mod server and I get IFSO crashing on average every week or so. There are some common mods built into IFSO but WTS World isn't one of them.
@Rower of death - Try FLAdmin. It's old but works. If you had a dedicated server Eagle would let you have FLAC but he is particular, with excellent reason I might add, who he gives it out to.
@Freelancer2108971 - You really should have broadband to host a server. In fact with servers that have mods that put a lot of moving objects on screen or have a fast pace (increased thruster speed for example), you'd be hard pressed to even use 56k to play (you'd then be a FL client). I think at 28.8k your FL client becomes very choppy even on the most reduced bandwidth server. As for uptime I have had one server up for 2 yrs 3 months and even that is no guarantee you'll get players on your server. If I were you I'd stick to single play (SP) until you get broadband.

I had my server disconnected from my LAN a couple of days. It haz been working fine before.
Now it wont show itself on my LAN at all in the listing az a LAN server. It shows itself az an Internet server with my external IP! Itz impossible to connect (time-out).
Does anyone know wth happened? I didnt change a thing in my network, but tried everything from changing router, switchs, deleting MODs, reinstalling FL and firewall........
FLping gives a result in my LAN, but with a ridiculous high ping......
HELP?

k, i have a problem (duh). I've done some searching, and I've found that it's fairly common, but I still can't find a solution, so I do need help. Here you go:
I have 3 comps on a network with router and cable modum, no fire walls on. The 2 I play Freelancer with can connect to servers just fine, but if they try to
connect to the same server, 1 says "Please wait. The request is taking longer than expected. Press Esc. to cancel" then says that the connection can't be
established. But if I have my 3rd comp as a server, the other 2 can play together just fine and other people can join too. I think it's because it's only
going over LAN so no IP problems. If I had to guess, I'd wager that it's a router setting or IP address problem. I've tried DMZ'ing 1 of the comps, but no go. I
know a bit about computers but not much about networks.
Anyone have any suggestions?

I have a prob with the server.
I wanna start up a server that hosts a game of my fav mod. So I activate the mod on FLMM and "start FLserver". No probs. I fill in all the info I want like the name / password etc. and the server loads. Then I lauch Freelancer and go to the multiplayer menu and hit Internet. Scroll down and theres the server HOWEVER, it doesn't seem to be hosting the mod I want or any mod at all. I can't connect to it and the version is stated as "1.0" which is my normal FL version not the version of the mod (Which incidentally is called Phoenix mod if any of you guys are interested).
Can anyone help me please?
Thanks
Blasky
