Warriors of the Sky needs YOU...

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Warriors of the Sky needs YOU...

... to host a server. I don't care if you're just using a cable modem or DSL line, and can only take 3 people at a time. I don't care if you can only keep it up 4 hours a day. This mod needs YOU, because players are steadily catching on to the mod, and we need somewhere to play

To get the mod, simply go here and download the latest Alpha, activate a server in FLMM, and label it appropriately. I strongly suggest labeling it, "WOS Alpha 3" and then whatever name you want, so that players can differentiate it easily (it's not a different "version number" yet).

So please, lend us a hand- we're working on this mod for everybody, and getting players playing it is the best way to spread the joy

Argh,

I strongly suggest you change the version number. If you do not, people without the mod can log on to the host server. Since you have changed so many things, it would easily crash the server.

I'm aware of that. I'll go look up the information on how to do it before I release the next Alpha, to avoid pain and suffering for mod operators

But I still wanna server... c'mon folks... WOS needs somewhere to test Alpha 4 that can host more than 3 people on a cable modem... heck, I'll take a cable modem, if they can just run it. I'm just looking for somebody to host the mayhem so that I can concentrate on building the mod... not being a server op.

Ok I haven't gone off on the lax view towards illegally modifying the exe that Lancer's has, but outright telling people to do it.. WTF??

It's nice to see everyone's getting along isn't it...

Give us all an alternative route on this issue, and I'm listening. I wasn't happy about having to do it, either- but almost every major MP mod uses a game version that isn't 1.0... and no less than Chips gave me specific instructions on how to do this, and I checked out existing mods very carefully. I'm not at all interested in being squashed by M$'s enormous horde of lawyers.

Personally, I think that M$ has probably realized that they goofed up there, they've decided to ignore us doing this for MP mods, so long as we don't start passing out 100% of the things people would need to have a functional, free copy of the game. At least, I hope that that's the case- the last thing I (or any of the other modders) would like is to get sued, when we're not out to hurt FL's sales or anything- if anything, I hope that mods like mine cause more people to go buy a copy of this game!

My custom game version is absolutely useless for anything but playing my mod MP, unless you have a full copy of the game, in which case, you can play SP. It's the core DLLs that keep things from getting out of hand- without them, the EXE is worthless. And thus far, there's been no way to crack those files, nor any legitimate reasons to pass them out, so I think we're relatively safe here.
