Transferring Servers

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Transferring Servers

Hi there.

I have a LAN at home. Me and my little bro play some freelancer together, and i run the server off my computer each time. However, the time has come for my computer to get formatted, and as such i need to back up the characters in my server one way or another - if you see what i mean. Where can i find the files that store the character data? are they client-side or server-side? Or is it not possible?

I hope i've explained myself well.

Thanks.

-Rodriguez

chars are server side, and there stored in your my docs folder/my games/freelancer . just zip em up and put em in your back up, then make sure u unzip em to the right place when u have done formating

Make sure you save your FLID for the "server" computer, I dont believe that those files will work right with flserver running a different FLID.

{GrimAxe}Achilles is perfectly correct. The FL server MP ID# is in the Multiplayer directory in the accounts.cfg file. It is used for all encrypting and decrypting of the directory names, file names, etc.

Mucho Grazias and all that Malarky. Hope that it works - haven't had a free weekend for formatting so far.
