Umm...player limit? I don't think you could go much higher than 16 on a cable modem...

I'm not sure what you mean, it's at 12 right now.

If you have the right amount of ram, you can go as high as 25 players on even a 128kbps upstreamed cable modem. Though on a nominal system with a gig of ram usually 15 is your best ability.

it's a p4 2.4 with 1/2 gig of ram
the upload on the cable is 384

Skyevalen - with another 1/2 gig of ram would the system handle 24 players?

I've been told and I agree with the assessment that if you are able to get a server running with 1.5 gigs of ram you can run 25 players and lag only be related to your server broadband connection. I used to be a comp tech and I've built both personal and servers before. The recommended ram for a FL server is no less than 1 gig. The best ram for a FL server is 1.5gigs to 3 gigs of ram. Some of these 2 year old mobo's have some newer bios flashes out there that will allow you to now go upto 3 gigs of ram so you may want to check into that as well. With ram prices falling again, 1 gig sticks should not be more than about 150 bucks at least some of the places I know to shop anyways.

Skyevalen -
Thanks for the reply.
My mother board will allow upto 3gig of memory.
I'm toying with the idea of adding more mem to it or using my other pc as the server, it's p4 2.6 with hyperthreading and 2gig of ram.

That will give an excuse to upgrade the old one with a new mobo and chip

Thanks again
Larry
