Wow. I came in to request people actual DO this when the post info about a new mod, as the best way to try it is host a server, and let others experience it.
And here's one all set up, and noones used it. Lovely.

We started in April '03 with a private Internet Line and the original Name Hamburg City. The Internet line was to slow and i ask our community if they want donate money to pay rent to k-play.de. So we are now running one of the biggest FLServer on earth located in a big computing centre in Germany with huge Internet lines across Europe. This was only a fast overview about the Server History.

Some words to the features we have (the most is build by me for fun
- 50 Slots
- Harder NPC's/very hard PvP
- NPC's use Nanos and Shild Bats (not in Liberty System, this was to hard for new Players
- webforum <-> FlChar linking for:
* webbased Missions
* ranks in forum based on Fl Char Data
* hole the base game
- about 800 active Players (in last 14 Days says flstat)
- >6000 Chars, 4900 Accounts (daily backuped)
- FLCD (Freelancer Cheat Detect) This is an Anticheat System based on a Client Software you have to download to Play. This Software checks the FL installation. Without this Software you will be kicked out automaticly. Since this Software is working we play totaly without cheaters!
- Death/Respawn Realtime Stats at www.freelancerserver.de.vu/stats.php

Serverrules are easy:
-No Mod/Cheats/Hacks
-Absolute no PvP in New York
-you have to Install newest Version of FLCD (current version is 0.7)
(get it from www.freelancerserver.de.vu/stats.php for your OS)

The rest of our Universe is free, we have Good Clans and Bad Clans, good singelplayers and bad single priates, talk to other players for help or teamwork or it can be very very hard. Some Systems are controlled from Clans and you have to pay a tax to go there or they fight you.

OK Sorry, enough advertisement but it was a hard work, i make this things allmost alone.

I only admin this Server, so please don't ask for other KPlay's, it is only the same Hoster. admins/webpages/rules are different for any KPlay Server.

Well, another option is the SYPHOS SERVER UK.

It's 24/7 and it's a server side "adjustment" rather than a mod so you don't need to download anything.

You start as a Lane Hacker, who has sneaked onto Manhatten in order to flog his cargo of cardamine - however you got caught - you are $20,000 the richer but the police are out or your head!

Time to make a run for it!

It's all about fun - normal rules with no PvP in Liberty

You can follow whatever path you want (hand yourself in and become a law enforcing good guy!), and there those pesky Nomads wwill show up now and again!
