FLConnectionMon

I've been trying to get FLConnectionMon working on my server, but it never seems to show anything. On a Windows 98 computer, I started FLConnectionMon, made sure the port and IP were correct, clicked "Start", started FLServer, connected to it from a different, WinXP computer on the LAN, and loaded a character and played with it. FLConnectionMon never showed anything. Do you know what my problem could be? I really need a working IP<->Character program; I think that's the only way I'll be able to get FLSS working.

FLConnection Monitor (FLCM) needs the file accounts.xml to link a FL MP saved game file to the character's name. This accounts.xml file is generated by AkaTaka's other program FL Account Browser (FLAB ) which is in beta and only a few sysadmins have (like me!). Unfortunently it does no good to give it out. I have typed this all before but I will do it again briefly. 1)AkaTaka hasn't said to give to anyone else and he seems to be afk 2)you need a unique user name and password for it to work and 3)the server FLAB uses to decode/encode the game files seems to be down.

What this means is FLCM will let you know which FL saved game files were accessed by players connecting to your server but you have to use something else (like JoeBoomz FL char ed) to determine their character name. Although all those programs are on my server and are up and running, accounts.xml hasn't been updated in weeks so many of the file names have no characters linked to them.

If you don't even see a file name then the IP address is wrong (if you have a LAN use the LAN address, not the internet address) or the port is wrong. The port is supposedly a spread from 2302 to 2304 but most people assume 2303. I set my server to 2401 so there is no mistaking what the port is.

edit: The B and ) in "(-F-L-A-B-)" (no dashes) created a black eye . Not my desired effect!

Thanks! I just need to connect filenames to IP's; I can decrypt character files and find out names myself if I need to. I was using the default IP and port numbers in both FLCM and FLServer, but I'll double-check them and see if I can get it to show anything.

BTW, if you connect to a server from the same machine that is running the server, does the connection also show up in FLCM? If it does, that'll greatly expediate my troubleshooting.

I tried manually setting the port of FLServer and telling FLCM that port, but that didn't help. I also double-checked the IP address; I only have one, and that's the one FLCM is using. I also tried FLCM on both computers, without any results .
I've e-mailed Akataka again (he hasn't replied to one I sent a month ago), and am hoping that he'll have the answer, if he's still there...

I just got an e-mail from Akataka saying that he's been gone, and will be back early next week and will answer my questions. He's still alive!
