LancerGuard Anti-Cheat Mod

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

It's looking more and more likely that without the intervention/help of DA, there will be no way to keep servers running both clean and fast.

No matter what we try, the contraints of the game mean that we can only do so much. There are a lot of hacks that are simply unstoppable without DA's help.

Well Stinger etc time to use that infuence that got you to beta the patch, to get DA's attention once again.

Also is the email addy still live that was used for the beta bug reporting? As I have mailed it before just never got a reply, not even a forced Receipt Read reply.

put it on 6 hours ago, no crashes as yet, and the nomads now do damage again.

I do not think DA will want to spend the time and money into making another patch for a game that does not do well in its sales. Result has shown that Freelancer is doing rather poorly in the commercial world. I have heard alot of bad reviews about this game, esp in its gameplay. On the other hand, I have heard no news of DA currently working on another project, and this may mean that the staffs of DA have alot of spare time to work on a new patch.
Well, I think its up to stinger to convince DA its worth making a new patch if he ever think of approaching them.

A question:

Was the stability of servers affected by v1.1 or cheats moding or both? I know you don't want to publicly go into exactly how they where crashing the servers, but was it a combination of the 2?

ed: this is the updated version? As the readme is the same, this is why I asked for the version number in the zip.

v1.1 had issues that buggered up the stability of servers.

Not sure why, possibly because of altering the nomad ship loadout to use cannons/blasters instead of the neutered lasers (which did 0 damage).

If the nomads used the 0 damage lasers, it caused problems as seen in 1.0.


It is possible to crash a server fairly easily though. And modding overall seems to reduce the stability.

had version 1.1 up and running for 37 hours no crash,. i usualy reboot b4 this time... but wanted to test stability... never ran like this b4, ?? man.. a lil stability in my life at last

Noticed same combination of mods does reduce stability, even ones download from same set

I currently run 2 separate servers. #1 server is running the latest version of LancerGuard. #2 server is running the second version , the one that was crashing a lot of other servers . Today on the #1 server I encountered someone that was trying to setup a cloak. He was flying a defender as was I. He showed no weapons when I scanned him. He started dropping some unknown devices from his ship which I tractored into mine. I checked my cargo and found nothing. He shot me one time and completely reduced my shields. The next shot destroyed me. I have not encountered this as of yet on the #2 server. Is this something new that has to be dealt with ?
