Need fast feedback from those affected by NPC glitch on Elit

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

Need fast feedback from those affected by NPC glitch on Elit

To the community in general....

Can we have some direct feedback to 2 questions from those of you who experienced this event recently on the Elite server. You all know the one, where the NPC's were not talking when you landed. Like they all ran out of things to say and the problem was not rectified until the server was rebooted. We thank you all in advance for your fast and direct cooperation.

Q1. When this happened, does anyone know (by conversing with other pilots on the server) for sure if it was isolated to specific pilots or was everyone affected in the same way?
Q2. Did logging out and logging back into the Elite server cause the NPC's to once again begin to speak back to pilots?

We're trying to figure out what caused this to happen. Very much appreciate the feedback folks.

I don't know if this helps, but whenever I've had this problem I've also been unable to get jobs from the job board.

Says something like "Too many players are accessing the job board at the moment, try again later." And nobody has anything to say in the bar at all. Then if i go somewhere that doesn't like me, and access the job board, it gives me the usual "we don't pay ppl like you" message, and then if I leave and come back in I can try and bribe.

I don't really spend much time in the bar, so I don't know how often it has happened to me...

Hope that helps...

It happen on a server I use to everyone, only fix was to restart the server.

Changing Player characters didn't help.
Making New characters didn't help.

Only thing that is custom about the server is the Restart utility.

Seems to be specific pilots, as I was talking to a friend when I found out (was going to a specific system to bribe. Arrived and was unable to talk to anybody), and he wasn't having any problem with it. All I did previously was log on and fly around a bit, no killing, was just completing the trip I started before I left for the night.

Both times this has happened to me, the only common thing between the two was that when I logged out I still had waypoints set. I kinda doubt it's related, but it's the only thing I can think of. The first time I was on a mission and got disconnected. The second time I was too tired to keep flying, so left for the night *L*. In both cases when I logged back in I could no longer talk to NPC's. W/ the disconnect, I re-logged immediately, with the "need sleep", I was gone for about 16 hours. I'm fairly sure I've logged w/ waypoints set on other occasions and not had problems, but I wouldn't swear to it...

I haven't had this happen on other servers (yet?), nor have I heard of it happening to anybody anywhere else, so it's seeming to be part of the alpha code.

As to re-logging to fix it, nope. Relog, reboot, change IP (when I had dialup). I didn't try the "new player" option, but I did log into another server to see if it was acting up. It was fine. Everybody talked to me. Logged back to Elite and they were all mimes still...

Thanks for the feedback. We think DA has figured out the problem.
