I need help creating and playing on my own server offline.

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

I need help creating and playing on my own server offline.

I would like to host a server on this computer, and join it from this computer. I can't do that unless I'm online. I've tried changing the freelancer.ini file to say "localhost". That doesn't work. It is set to not show online. Before someone says, "Check the other posts!" I have read several posts on this. I have found no useful info. I would greatly appreciate it if someone who has done this successfully let me know how they did it. It's sad, because I'm on a crappy 56k, crappy even for 56k, and it's just annoying that I lose my connection to MY server on MY computer, when I lose my connection to the internet. It just makes no sense. If anyone could help me out, I'ld appreciate it.

Thank you,

I know this question has been asked before, but I thought I'd post a fresh topic for it. I have read the other posts and tried what some have suggested. I tried editting Freelancer.ini for example. When I start the server software, it doesn't connect. I even tried using the Direct IP file with that edit, and nothing. I've tried and tried to get it to work, but I have to be online when starting the server software. I have no trouble connecting to my server. I just can't get the server to start up properly. But, yes, I have tried those things... unsuccessfully. Posting here is a last resort. I would not have posted if I had no need to. I just don't understand why I have to have the internet in order to play by myself on a server I create on the same comp. It just seems illogical to me.

Thank you,

can i recommend you use the OpenSP Mod? What it does is remove all the SP missions and just make the Single Player into a MP game without having to connect to the internet. No server needed. Just install the mod and then start a new SP game, and do what you want. Might be some bugs, but the modder(s) are working on new versions to correct those bugs.

I can run a server on my sys and play it only because I have a NIC (network interface card) and a 4-port network hub. My sys stills tries to connect to the internet, but I just cancel it. My friend who does not have a network hub cannot access his server without connecting to the internet.

Hope this helps,
