How do you tell if you have cheaters on your server

Here SysOps can list their MultiPlayer server info and users can send feedback to their SysOps. Or just talk about the MultiPlayer servers they play on. This is not about MultiPlayer in general - please use the MultiPlayer Forum for that!

How do you tell if you have cheaters on your server

I've seen some sucpicious activity lately on my server.. and I was wondering how to tell if they are trying an exploit??

If someone instantly jumps from level 1 to 38 they're either a cheater of have a very nice friend nearby, or if they happen to launch with a titan as a new character.

Oh and if your not on the server at the time there is no way of knowing... because you can not inspect player accounts when they are offline, with the current toolset anyway.

This method is a bit rough and ready, but I've caught quite a few level 38 cheats who weren't in New York this way. I've had 100% success with this, but only used it when absolutely necessary and I've exhausted all other means.

On the server machine, open the Multiplayer folder (under My Documents/My Games/Freelancer/Accts) and sort the date modified column in descending order. The folders at the top of the list are those accounts currently playing.

Locate the suspected cheater in the Edit > Accounts window of the server app. Kick them off the server. This forces a save of their character files.

Quickly alt-tab back to the Multiplayer folder and refresh the contents using F5. The most recent save will be at the very top of the list. Double click on that folder and right click on the Name file and choose "Properties". Look at the creation date. Cheaters should be easy to spot since no-one should be level 38 within a few hours of their character creation date.

Uhh, I've made level 38 within a few hours of my character's creation without hacking...something like 2 hours and 40 minutes or so. This isn't a sure-fire solution since some people really can level that fast, but if there is some insansely low time (like 5 minutes) then they either hacked or have a wealthy friend. I know I've gotten people to level 38 just five minutes after the character creation, I just had to hand over a few mil of my hard-earned cash.

I also can hit level 38 within 3 hrs of starting.
