Mods.... sorting the clutter

While it's great to see the plethora of mods that are being postulated at the moment, one problem comes to mind, and this is that as far as we know FL has no direct mod support, so to modify with one mod means overwriting the old dataset and so leading to incompatibility.

What is needed is a utility to function as a mod manager.

Basically the files are all extracted into a folder (individual folders for each mod) and then you use this manager to switch between the various mods and standard freelancer.

Also possibly instigate some form of server checking through it (basically a "do you have the right mod for this server?" to prevent the ugly effects of people with hacked up INI's coming into servers).

Just a thought. (Sadly I have nowhere near the expertise to do it myself )

good idea, ive read it before, so i searched the forum and here's a summup on "Mod manager" progress
In the => STANDARD => MOD Distribution thread theyve discussed it this guy already made on mod manager, its not a graphical one yet but i think he's working on it. Most important is that everyone will use the standard format for INI files, as discussed in the "=> Standard" thread.
