I think "sectors" are a purely theoretical construct.

There is not even a sector subdir structure in FREELANCER\DATA\UNIVERSE
From all the code I have looked at, the game divides up the universe into systems, not sectors THEN systems.

Those who've tried my mod alpha may have noticed that the Missouri is parked in orbit over Manhattan. Whilst juggling the numbers for that one, for solars it seems that :

pos = x, y, z

Then, I assume, you get :

rotation = x, y, z

Can't remember, don't have my notes with me and I've got a splitting headache after rescuing a scragged win2k and a a load of files off a 40 gig hard drive with a missing MFT.

i tried to remove all the system ( left only li01) but my server wont start.

About coordinates : it uses a x,y,z layout. 0,0 is the center of the map, positive x values will be eastward, positive y values will be southward.
The best way to place an object is to calculate relative coordinates. I did that for a jump gate. Aligned with Newark Station on the x axis and with Trenton Outpost on the y axis.
I'm not perfectly sure of this but it seems one unit is about 80 meters in-game. 50 units would make something like 4kms.
I also think I'll make a little program which calculates trade lanes coordinates and angles but I have to see how they work first.

Um, MANY games MS have released have come with an editor or way to mod it. I don't see why DA would be any less likely to release info if the community keeps up at this rate.

Dungeon Siege (HOLY CRAP...Have you seen just how modable this is?)
I'm sure there are others but this all I can think of off the top of my head based on my taste in games.

Creating New Systems:
Looks like with the info we are starting to collect, it shouldn't be too hard to generate random universes. As soon as I get a grasp on the parts and pieces (and make a system or two by hand) this is something I'll be working on.

PROPOSED NEW SYSTEM:

Added:

* 1 Asteroid type base
* 1 Jump Hole to New York, Liberty (opens behind Manhattan Planet)
* 1 Jump Hole to New London, Bretonia (opens behind New London Planet)
* 1 Jump Hole to New Toyko, Kusari (opens behind New Tokyo Planet)
* 1 Jump Hole to New Berlin, Rhineland (opens behind New Berlin planet)
* Populate the system, with any 1 faction (so it isn't empty and so we can see if there are any weird AI effects).

Yet to be done:

* Populate the system
* Later, attacks from an enemy faction can be added.

### The System faction is Red Hessian since I thought it would be wise to make one such system a pirate system...
### I have not managed to put people into the Base...THe shops work but there ain't no people standing around... Missions naturally don't work either
