After Editing Values, then what?

OK, I've read a LOT of the information on editing ships, have the .INI decompressor utility and have made some changes in my fighter, a Crusader Heavy. I saved the Shiparch.ini.txt and am now wondering what is necessary for the game to actually read my altered file rather than the default compressed .INI one.

My apologies if this has been answered in the past, but I must have missed it in reading the threads.

Thanks............

first: BACK UP ORIGINAL FILE (rename it to "x.bak" or something)

then: rename it from .txt.ini to .ini

No need to recompress it or anything.

Neat, huh?

Thanks for the quick answer. I was expecting to have to jump through a bunch of hoops instead of a simple renaming.

But talk about trial and error......it took me about 6-7 attempts until I finally modified the right engine that's in the Crusader. I was in that race and was constantly losing so I modified the engine to get up to cruise in 1.2 as opposed to 5 and I beat old What'sHisFace first time out of the gate!!! LOVE this game!!
