Read Before Posting

I'm not really in a position to make rules for this forum, but theres a couple of guidelines I would like to be followed.

1. Please look back in other threads to see if your idea has already been proposed before creating a new thread, asking for the exact same mod.

2. Please check the other threads to see what other mod teams are doing before starting to work on a similiar mod. For example, there are a lot of people working on putting pilotable capships into the game.

3. If you're interested in learning how to mod, your best bet is to download the INI decompressing tool and read through most of the older threads to see how others are doing it. Don't expect to be able to post a thread on "How do I mod?" and expect them to stop work to teach you how.

4. Share information! The more we learn, the faster mods can be produced, and the game made better.

Id like to add that, if you dont get an imeadiate answer in a existing thread, dont make a new thread asking the same question. ive seen people making 3 threads with identical issues. if you want answers quick, goto IRC. But please dont flood the place. thats all

I'm an extreme nOOb and been lurking here reading and learning. I would just like to thank you fine fellers (and gals) for your efforts. The mods you are working on will add substantial depth to the game.

I just want to say thanks for your efforts. Maybe someday I'll be able to contribute more than a few kind words. :+)

Heheh, that rule about looking back to other threads to see if ur idea has already been posted reminds me of Volition's FS2 board which is now dead. If you so mentioned something that has been said before, they'd bite your head off! lol.

Anyways, just wanted to ask, Is there any way to do a search on the forum?

Ok so just how do i go about using the bini thing . where do i put it so i can do what everyone else seems to be able to do. how do i get it to read in line format so it makes sense to me . Just some of those annoying questions i would like answers to instead of being told not to post new threads. just need one person to explain how to do it and maybe just maybe others would read it too and not ask those annoying questions of you more experianced folk.

Find the file you want to open. Right click on it. Select "Open With..." Find the bini application. It will uncompress the file and place a uncompressed version of the file in the same folder as the original.

Do I understand this correctly; any modifications I make should work within boundaries of course as long as I am playing in multiplayer mode. Yet, some will not work in single player mode?

Let me ask the question this way. Can the shields which are not obtainable in the original game become available in single player mode with a little tweaking of the market_misc.INI assuming I know what to add, and which base to add it?

Ok, I understand we don't want the same thread started more than once and that if a question has been asked and answered we don't need it again. So, what I would love would be for those with the power to make those threads that have significant tutorial type info *sticky* and with a designator like *tutorial - ships* in the subject so new people here will actually be able to find them.

erm, blaXXer, I looked and I didn't see anything that stoodout as "full movie". got a couple of nice large trailer types. but that's it. do you know of any specific titles/dates posted? greatly appreaciated.

Jesus! ,all I want to do is unlock the Alaska JG ,I've done a forum search but nothing about that alone has yet turned up.

Newbie questions look no further 2 - its been covered many times. its in the initial world.ini fiel - but you won't be able to do it unless you are in MP not SP! Also - its server side.
