Changing Multiplayer Start Values

I was trying to change the multiplayer start values, mainly money. So that I can have more money for everyone on my server to start, so the newbs don't get completely screwed.
but under credits it just says "%%MONEY%%"

How can I change the starting money?

Edit : Nevermind, I fixed this too, you can just change %%MONEY%% to whatever wanted, so it isn't in some other file.

So how did u change that? %%1800%% ?

or just erase %%Money%% and put whatever?

Give an example if the above is wrong

just put the number: 1800
you don't need the %%

What file do you change the money setting?

NVM, the file is mpnewcharacter.fl in the EXE dir

the file you guys wanna edit would be

in your "\DATA\CHARACTERS\NEWCHARACTER.INI
find the value called Staring Money or something like that..
I'd pasted the contents of the file so you guys can see which value to change!

Hey cool. Thanks for the explanations.

How many different pilots can you change that too? What are the keywords for them?

I am SICK of being Trent.

Who else can you be?

Does it break things when you go into a bar and try to ask about missions or rumors? In other words, did they do voice stuff for the other characters (like the answers to "are you new here" and such).

I just started my own server that is a lan just for me, since I wanted to go anywhere I wanted. Is there a way to edit my stats in the server?

Just out of curiousity, would it be possible to build, say, a set of different templates with different faction alliances and starting ships, and then on creation of a new player apply a random new_player template?

This would be an interesting addition to any server, allowing for more a more dynamic universe. You could have some players start as pirates, some start as merchants, some start as just a general freelancer, whatever.

Of course, this would, unfortunately, require some retooling of the universe, probably, to allow for a balanced distribution of power. Either that, or you'd have to be very careful in your selection of starting points for players.

If a player could CHOOSE, that would be most excellent, but I can see that as being a bit more difficult to implement
