System placement and FLE

I´ve read here on the forum that freelancer accepts integers a system coordinates. Now I want to divide all coordinates by 2 to have enough space for my new sectors. Now myy problem is that FLE doesn´t display systems whwn the coordinates are integers. Has anyone an idea abut that??

I think that you have to make the systems first, position them (with integrers) second. I think that FLE can display only exact coordinates (1, 2, 3 instead of 1.2, 2.03, 2.99)

Would be an idea for the next version of FLE: integer support.

Would it be a terrible thing if someone were to alter FLE to including floating-point support? My mod needs to put in around 500 star systems, all straight from the Battletech universe, and FLE just ain't cutting it as is. I can probably get a programmer to do the work, if it were permissible. If he had the code, I know someone with some mad skills at this sort of thing.

I've heard that Freelancer Explorer was no longer being developed, so that's why I ask. Naturally, my group would immediately post the resulting update on Lancer's Reactor, giving credit to the original author as well.

That's something you'll have to take up with the EOA consortium who releases FLE. There's always development going on regarding programs like this, just cos you don't hear about it, doesn't mean it's not happening

Roger that, we'll be doing that. As is, we're working on a separate program (95% done) that will let you alter system positions up to #.## sensitivity. The only problem is that since it is NOT part of FLE, those systems must be altered AFTER you've finished the system in FLE. Otherwise you'll see the systems disappear off the map in FLE and there will be no more editing without giving them integer positions again. It does work well with Freelancer, and the positioning is sweet. It would simply be a lot better if FLE had the capability, which is why we're looking into integrating the two programs.

ah. since we're on topic i guess i can disclose some related knowledge

real_pos = decimal accurate position on map
pos = actual position on game grid

as far as i can tell they're supposed to be used together, but possibly they just do the same thing- anyways, using real_pos didn't give me any unusual crashes such as "non-empty player location" - anyways, this should give you an FLE-compatible universe with precise-in-game coords

I mailed EOA. Lova-Deus and his crew sounded very interested
