Cutting out parts of zones on the navmap?

The general place to discuss MOD''ing Freelancer!

That would be fortunate but strange. I always thought the visit line was to define under which circumstances the player is to see the object on the navmap. But anyways, I'll try this out when I have the time.

i always thought that the visit no's on anything was like this:
Visit = 0 <---means it doesn't show on the map until you come in range of it.
Visit = 1 <---means it is always there on the navmap from the game start, even if you have never been to it or seen it. Planet Manhattan is like that.
Visit = 128 <---the item is never on the navmap, some of the Omicron systems are like that, and so are some other objects, like the second in-system hole in New York (the one outside the Badlands)
Visit = 16 <---this one is for wrecks, after you have the goodies inside you can dock, come back, and get even more, it reloads the wreck.
if there's any more you know about, let us know.

also, on this issue about the rings, give the exclusion in the middle a black nebula flag, eg the badlands flag. and make the exclusion higher than the original asteroids, otherwise it will just be a hole in the middle, with asteroids on top and bottom. i know how to make a zone an exclusion, and it involves editing more than one file (2 files). if you need to know, just ask.
