Trains & damage

My problem involves probably more than just trains, but I've only encountered it with trains yet:

When you shoot them in the rear, they show no damage on the "red damage bar" and blow up quicker.

Why does this happen and what can I do to change this? It's a really big balance issue.

try removing all the collisiongroups if there are any and remove/comment out the fuses - that should do it

Well, the Train has no collissiongroups and I commented out all the fuses. Still no luck...

Anything else that could be causing this?

how about using flmodeltool to make all sur components part of the hull/ one piece? if its not that..... *shrug* - i've never seen the problem you're describing

would you by any chance be using one of my expanded constants.ini? it has some powerful settings that were not included in the original file - particularly i was thinking of this one

{CollisionConsts}
MAX_IMPACT_SPEED =

I think its linked to the root_proxy thing, if the engine is destroyed then the whole ship blows. I've not found this with the Train, but i have found it with the transport and large transport.

No, I'm not using any other constants.ini than the original, with a few edits that don't effect the ships.

Trains don't have collisiongroups, so the root_health_proxy has no effect because it isn't there for the train.
It also occurs when I shoot the cockpit; the entire ship blows up in just a few shots without signs of decay.

What about this flmodeltool, does this require modeling skills?

Ok, never mind, I screwed up.
I wasn't shooting at trains, but at transports
It all makes more sense all of a sudden...
