SDK & Patches

Hi guys, I've been looking into combining the official 1.1 patch with the unofficial 1.40 patch, and have noticed they both replace content.dll, I'm wondering if they would conflict at all.

For instance if I install 1.1, then copy the unofficial patch on, will the changes made by 1.1 be affected? I've noticed that the unofficial patch doesn't incorporate 1.1 official is all..

Thanks

hmmm, if anyone is good enough! they could try and combine them. If its possible

I'm not hundred percent sure, but I'm guessing if someone skilled in that area was to use a file comparison program between the original, and the 1.1 patch, and then compare to the 1.4 version, they'd know what was changed and could adjust the 1.4 version to include the 1.1 content.

But I'm not sure of how it would be done as like I said, not skilled in that area yet. I can do basic changes with ResHack, thats about it.

I'm actually working on a modified version of FLMM so that some more decent mods can be packaged with it, plus slight menu and layout changes to basically make it look more efficient. I did email off to IGx89 for permission but no response as of yet.

Lest any forget, the 1.1 patch is ONLY for MP game, and the server at that, not single player

to combine those is not needed

the dll coming with 1.4 is very likely based on fl 1.0 or fl1.1

I just looked at QuickFix by the makers of the SDK, the latest one has 1.1 incorporated, I just don't know if all the fixes in unofficial 1.4 are included in QuickFix at all.

Ok, 1.1 is only for people that have troble getting an ID to play on MP and it fixes the server stability and cheating .If you can still get on MP games without no problem, then you don't need to install the patch(I don't).
Here is what the site says about the patch

The Freelancer Update v1.1 is primarily a server update addressing server stability and cheating. There are some client side fixes, the most important being a multiplayer ID generation issue. There is really no need to install the update unless you are running a server or are unable to play multiplayer because you can't get an ID. The update itself contains no localized text, therefore it is applicable for use for the English, French, and German versions of the game. An English, French, or German readme file will be installed depending on the language version of the target operating system.

The Quickfix has the 1.1 in it so that people who run servers can just install it with no problem about cheating or stability.

I do think that the 1.4 is outdated and the best fixes right now are the SDK files which are also in the quickfix(Updated version of the SDK). I am sure you can add the Quickpatch frist and then install the 1.4 patch with no problem at all if you want to get those add ons.

Well, heres the thing, I'm was hoping that an all-in-one patch could be created to apply the 1.1 update (with FLHook and FLStat etc included) along with the fixes and updated video card information.

To create an unofficial patch 1.5 or something ...

You can't run FLHook with 1.0, only works with 1.1 hence why I was asking...

Post Wed May 17, 2006 11:16 am

Yes, FLhook is a program run by server OP's, why would players who play on the server need the 1.1 patch if their not the ones running the program? Doesn't really make a point, you could just install the 1.1 and run FLhook, and if you want all the spining planets, all the fixed ID's bah bah bah, then just install the 1.4 after you install the 1.1, I am pretty sure you can run that as a serverside.

i didnt know that somebody ever had any problems with the current patches... most mods dont even need them and the serveradmins are pretty good to manage all the different patches/mods

Post Thu May 18, 2006 3:45 am

Only people wishing to download 1.1 are infact server people ... so hence why I wanted to include that and some of the server tools and utilities...

Future versions of QuickFix will include a better solution for server stats and administration than is currently available via FLHook, FLStat, FLShell, FLAC, FLCD, etc.

For players the latest patch/fix/SDK is QuickFix 1.0.

For server ops the latest patch/fix/SDK is QuickFix 1.0 Plus.

For mod makers the latest patch/fix/SDK is Freelancer S.D.K. 1.5 Beta (rel: 03/14/2005).

The unofficial patches by Buck Danny are classified as modifications and are not true patches according to the =EOA= (whether or not you agree with us is your choice). The 1.4 release by Buck Danny is unique because it was released based on a modified version of the Freelancer S.D.K. (version 1.3), but it is still considered to be a mod and not a patch.

Check out the latest beta's of the Freelancer S.D.K. 1.5 and Freelancer Explorer v2.x
