Activating/Deactivating Engines

Hey,

I just had a thought and I was wondering if it was possible to create an engine that can be enabled or disabled like a weapon.

Is there a way to trick the game into thinking an engine is a weapon and have the same attributes as an engine?

I would like to create faster inner system travel and still have the ability to use standard afterburners....

Apologies if it's been asked before, but the search features ARE limited, until I finish re-organising all the modding information for Chips I also can't visage seeing anything like that before in my travels around the forums here.

You mean like engine kill? That lil z button? That is switching the engine on/off.

I think he's talking about an extra engine, that you can turn on or off, for extra speed, but not be an afterburner. Cruise is the only thing that comes to mind for me.

Yep, I mean an extra engine that you turn on and off like a gun. I wish to use an extra speedy thruster for an admin ship ...

Why not just make an extra speedy special thruster for the admin ship instead? Or make a normal engine that goes damned fast - as they can set their speed via the engine you know, it's not just max or stop.

Because I'm planning on having the admin character be able to play too, get involved with the other players.

Can't very well have fights if afterburners make the ship go at 5000 can we lol.

There is a little trick but the ship can´t reverse anymor if you use it.
Set the reverse thrust at a negative value (for example -4.000000 for 4x normal speed boost)
