Stealth Ship (No, not cloaking)

Would it be possible to create a ship that was either:
A) "Invisible" to the scanner, so all you could see was the ship itself, or
Make the ship have the targeting thingy, but it did not show up on the scanner list and not as an arrow when off screen, so you could have a Stealth bomber wing sneak up behind a moving battleship without it knowing?
and C) Maybe,Maybe make it so that it could be turned on and off, and preferably draw power. but C) isn't necessary at all, it's that would be fun to have.
Any ideas on how to do this or is it utterly, utterly impossible to do?

well it should be possible... the beta of FL had radarjammers included and i really doubt that DA took them out completely

we just didnt find a solution to use them again

I was also thinking of this idea, it could be done... but not the proper way, but you could do it a cheat way.

If you could make a ship with no name, then when the ships sensors detected it, it should show up on the scanner list as nothing on the list.... just a theory.

But AI's would still engage it, and Humans could as well if they press'ed Defualt "e" to select next target, and then it would select it.

I hope som1 trys this.

or even make the name of the ship look like this:

" ."

that way the dot at the end of all those spaces would hopfully be off the small space left for the scanner pannel. and thus provide the same effect.

I Oon't see how this topic is different from the ban here on cloaking?
With such a definite rule I wanted to just mention this, as this is such a great forum and we want to obey the rules carefully for they must be there for a reason.

Its a little differnt. He's talking about the ship not showing on the radar/scanner, yet you see it when you fly by it. That is not a cloak then. A cloaked ship can not be seen or scanned. You would see it if you faced it, just no warning if it was behind you.

Perhaps it wouldn't even need to be that complete. I would love to see something like this that would simply hide your name in the chat window so that enemies cold not tell what system you were in.

That sort of thing would be good for server police: Invisible to radar and vision and unplotable on the navmap or chat screen. Cheaters would never see it coming.

If it is available for admins, players would find a way to use as well.

the question is do you want to hunt cheaters or do you want to prevent that ppl can use cheats


prevent cheats is the best solution and in Crossfire 1.61 it is impossible to cheat

i dont get it why cloacking is a so forbidden topic ... yes it can be used as cheat but also to anhance the gameplay on fl-mods ... think about a tie-phantom that can't cloack ... is it still a tie-phantom? even if the cloack eats all the enegy so it cant fire without uncloaking or last for a maximum of 30 secs it will be a realy cool feature for a fighter that belong to the shelf without it ... so much from an sw-fan on this topic... even trekies would like to see a cloacked pird of pray's in thier mod just to make it as original as possible even if they arent that useful like the films tell us for balancing ussies.

several mods have still included cloacks for adminuse, i think the faction with the small dicks still know how to use them ... so i think its outdated to forbid to talk about using these things ...

and infact evry part oi modding that is discussed on theses forums can be used as a cheat on 1.0 servers so a clockingdevice is nothing else than all the other mods ... a cheat ... lotsof cheats together r a mod ... more cheats with most content changed make a total conversion ... beware of the cheats they are evrywere ... *puts its helmet on for incomming stones*

which other mods have caused the same trouble like cloaking? tell me

old players will remember all those cloaking cheats about 3 years ago
every cheater used the 2 favorite cheats... cloaking and beam weapons
then they were sitting in NY to kill new players

i dont really want back those times

and i dont see a reason why an admin should use a cloaking device... use a cheat to hunt cheaters... sorry but i dont get it... there are better ways to stop a cheater

what i can agree to is a controlled use of cloaking... but that is difficult to realize (i would a way how to do this but it does only work on a protected server using the CFCP)

but nvm this topic is not about cloaking itself... so lets stop it before a moderator has to close it
