Problem with rumours

Hi guys, my first attempt at creating custom rumours and when i select the bartender I see the whole thing, including the xml formatting.

Instead of seeing this

My rumour is this

I see this

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?><RDL><PUSH/><TEXT>My rumour is this.</TEXT><PARA/><TEXT> </TEXT><PARA/><POP/></RDL>

in the rumour display window.

Help please?

I ahve tried adding the rumour into my custom dll and the misctext.dll and they both do the same thing

here's my entry

rumor = base_0_rank, mission_end, 1, 134233

i havent tried this before but:
have yuou tried saving it as info instead of infocard (the second one) and have you tried reoving all formatting?

Also try:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-16"?><RDL><TEXT>My rumour is this.</TEXT></RDL>

I tried it as info without the formatting and it no longer shows at all.

I've met this problem. For some reason, FL will "eat" the first character of any custom rumour you make. Simply put any old character as the first one, and it should work.

Could you be a bit more precise please, I don't get exactly what you mean :-0

Do you mean to start the sentence with the same word as one of the original rumours??

Buck,

First: try Darkstone's advice (he means: do it the way that you did it, but with any character added to it, at the first position).

If that don't work, read on. It was some time ago I was working on some rumers, but if I remember correctly, both Rumors and News messages need to be done differently when you add your own ones to the game... I don't know if that's a FLED-IDS issue or a Freelancer issue, but (again, if I remember correctly) you have to make custom Rumors and News Messages as ids_name (plain text) type things, while the original ones are ids_info (= XML formatted ) types. And you should not use numbers in a range that are reserved for ids_info's.

I added an extra dll file, to rewrite rumors in such a way that (example given) rumor 131199 (an ids_info type) would be replaced by 531199 (an ids_name type). But now Argh showed the way (see the Toolkit) how to make good use of the FLMM.dll, I guess It'll be even easier (add / replace Rumors using XML files, than you can just enter the ids_name and ids_info stuff into the XML file and don't need to use FLED-IDS at all.)
