Everyone is being kicked from server

Something strange happened with my server today. I'm using Discovery mod (of my own), and after a server restart several hours ago that I've controlled through RemoteDesktop connection no one is able to play, except for myself. All players are kicked after less than a minute of playing, with the following message:

LOG: Possible cheating detected (Ship or Equipment not sold on base) by ******

Nothing like that ever happened on my server. Besides, nothing was changed on the server before this started. It can't be cheating because it happens, like I said, to everyone except for me. I'm just clueless of why could this be - and how to fix it.

Please help.

Actually, it COULD be cheating, or rather what the console thinks is cheating. The culprit? Either you have somehow given out a corrupt version and/or are using a more up to date version than your clients, or theres some obscene error happening that i can't remember...

Already tried:
- Running the server without Ioncross;
- Restarting server and PC multiple times;
- Changing server settings;
- Uninstalling Freelancer, Discovery mod, all software and stuff and installing everything back.

Nothing would help.
I'm sure that me and clients have the same mod version. Exactly the same.

That is just... weird. Have you looked in your console view to see what its complaining about?

hm just a thought but try deleting accounts.cfg from the accts folder,it won't hurt the accounts it just holds the name & server news settings,along with some other stuff that i think could cause this.

Igiss,

Have you updated the mod recently and not done a player wipe..?

That can cause it..

The console always tells the same: LOG: Possible cheating detected (Ship or Equipment not sold on base) by ******. BTW I've already posted this, and there's no extra info or errors.

Deleting accouts.cfg - I'm going to try this.

player wipe - I though a wipe is needed only after adding new systems and/or changing map settings, no? Well, I'm running the server for almost 5 months now without any wipes. And no problems so far, although there were 6 mod versions (4.72, .73, .74, .75, .76, .77) with significant changes in each. Besides the latest Discovery version (4.77.1) was released on October 10, and that thing happened 15 days later. Could it still be because of wipeless mod change? And - is there a list of mod changes somewhere (on this forum, maybe) when player wipe is necessary?

Is it not Ioncross based?

Run server witout Ioncross, or uninstall MS 1.1 patch would do it i think

Playerwipe, it will solve the issue. You may backup the accounts if you wish first... because if it doesn't work (slim chance ), then at least you didn't toast the accounts for nothing

I tried running the server on another PC with the same user database. It works fine so far. No more kicks.

But I still don't know why it started...

Players entering my server are getting kicked after a few minutes. Console view gives me the following errors.

FL\Scratch\Source\Common\Archetype.cpp(60):***ERROR:ArchDB::Get(2551594956)failed

and

FL\Scratch\Source\Common\CEqObj.cpp(344):***WARNING:Object(0xbfd21d87)missing equipment archetype(98163FCC)

and

FL\Scratch\Source\Common\Archetype.cpp(60):***ERROR:ArchDB::Get(0)failed

What should I be looking for?

The problem I see is that none of these directories or files are on my PC...

So, what am I looking at?
Thanks,
Robo

FL\Scratch\Source\Common\Archetype.cpp(60):***ERROR:ArchDB::Get(0)failed

that would indicate a typo in an equipment name resulting in it reading no-nickname(0)

the other errors can be decoded into their INI nicknames with Anton's crctool by creating a database w/ the mod installed and searching it(gotta save it to search it fyi)

likely areas would obviously be markets and equipment,especially whatever's at the base people crash at - if its everywhere its likely a common item like nanos etc

hmm, i'll look at that. thanks for the response.

off topic, but do you know off-hand if the spinning planets mod is server side only or does it need to be installed on both server and client side?

Post Fri Nov 25, 2005 10:05 pm

nope i don't know, try emailing the author(s) they probably know

Problem fixed. It was a slight coding error in my mod.

Also, I spoke with the author of the spinning planets mod who informed me that the mod was client side only.
