Gate Timers

Been toying with an idea in my mind. Change gates to locked occasionally, see if you can get a side by sid ejava program that runs every 30 mins with a random generator with a 10 % chance of certain gates locking to go " under maintenance", or holes , " out of alignment" It'd add a whole degree of realism to it.

The Tradelane Idea - It's O.K., not the greatest idea.
The Wormhole and Jumphole idea - Really great, that would be (what we think) more realistic.

its pretty simple,just replace locking gates with a duplicate jumpgate,use a marker where the jump sphere goes and remove or re-place it easily with xml.of course the server would be shutting down every half hour,so....yeah

Couldn't you just xml the jumpgate's archetype to be the non-dockable version?

No just make a program that like every 30 mins when the server restarts the program replances instalworold.ini with a new one with diff locked gates...

So..

The server has to restart every 30 minutes.. ? Wont it kick all the players at the same time?..

Ya but if a player wanted to get in to Alaska he oput of luck cuz its now locked. Thers no posible way to do it while the server is up cuz changine gates is like uploading a new mod to server so you have to restart it. The only diff is that a program is doing it. Void server has that program it puts you in diff bace everytime it restarts.
